Barrel rollers run in a single row against a concave outer raceway. The geometry gives high radial capacity and tolerance of static shaft misalignment while carrying radial load only — axial location comes from a second bearing in the shaft arrangement.
A machined brass cage tolerates higher temperature and shock loading than a pressed steel cage and suits oil or grease lubrication with generous clearance for flow.
The bore is cylindrical, so the bearing mounts directly on a ground shaft seat. No adapter sleeve is involved.
One bearing. Cylindrical bore, open both faces, no lubrication groove or holes in the outer ring.
Mounting is an interference fit on the shaft seat with the outer ring located in the housing bore per the arrangement. Even heating of the inner ring seats the bearing without raceway loading.
Genuine equivalents share the 20315 ISO base number with a machined brass cage: FAG 20315-MB, SKF 20315 M. The K-suffix variant 20315-K-MB has a 1:12 tapered bore and is a related size rather than an interchange, as is any C3 clearance variant.
