A Timken one-piece double cone for a two-row tapered roller bearing, part number 95499D. The part is a single inner member carrying two tapered raceways, two roller rows and their cages. Bore is 5.0000 in (127.000 mm) and overall width is 5.5000 in. Cone only. The mating cups are two Timken single cups, 95905 or 95962 depending on the assembly.
In the Timken inch scheme a D suffix denotes a doubled member, and which member is doubled depends on which half carries the suffix. On a cup, D marks a one-piece double cup that accepts two cones. On a cone, as here, D marks a one-piece double cone that runs against two single cups. Timken catalogues the resulting arrangement as TDI, Tapered Double Inner, and the base number 95499 fixes the bore, the raceway angle and the roller path.
A TDI arrangement puts the two-row member on the shaft and the located races in the housing, which is the reverse of a TDO. The two rows share the radial load and take thrust in both directions, and because the raceway spacing is machined into one piece the row-to-row geometry is fixed at manufacture. With the double member on the shaft the cups can be adjusted axially in the housing, so the internal setting is established by the cup positions or by a cup spacer at assembly.

The double cone is an interference fit on the shaft seat and mounting force is applied to the cone backface, not through the rollers. The two cups are fitted into the housing bore against their own shoulders or against a cup spacer, and the endplay or preload is set by their axial positions once the cone is seated.
The published TDI assemblies on this cone are 95499D-95905 and 95499D-95962, so those are the mating single cups. A Timken 95500 is the single-row cone in the same 5 in bore family and is a related part rather than an interchange, because it carries one row. A 95499 without the D suffix is a single cone and takes one cup.
