Mount on a machined or shimmed flat pad and pull the cap bolts down evenly before tightening the collar setscrews, so the insert seats without being pre-loaded by a cocked cap. Set the collar screws on the flats you can reach and re-check after the first running hour — setscrew collars relax slightly on a new shaft. The base slot span of 5-9/16 to 6-7/16 inches gives room to square the block to the shaft; use it rather than forcing alignment at the collar. A relubrication fitting is provided in the housing; grease sparingly at speed, since an over-packed tapered roller insert runs hot.
