A Fanuc A16B-1210-0470 — the ROM/RAM memory board fitted to early Fanuc System 11 main boards. It carries the system EPROM holding the control’s operating firmware together with the working and battery-backed RAM used for the PMC ladder and part-program storage. Functionally it is the bridge between the numerical-control side and the machine-control (PMC) side of the control: the memory the machine’s logic and programs actually execute from.
A16B — Fanuc printed-circuit-board product class (Fanuc’s own scheme; not a GE Fanuc IC-series number)1210 — System 11 board block0470 — the ROM/RAM memory board specification within that blockCommonly stamped with a revision such as /03B; revisions of the same base number are the same board specification
Type: ROM / RAM memory board (CNC and PMC memory)Host controls: Fanuc System 11 — Series 11, 11A, 11M and 11TMounting: plug-in board on the System 11 main boardMemory devices: Intel EPROM plus RAM, board-mounted (2.56 Mbit EPROM capacity as published for this board)Function: system firmware store, PMC ladder execution memory, part-program memoryWeight: approx. 1.5 lbOrigin: Japan (Fanuc nameplate)
The RAM area on a System 11 memory board is battery-backed. Pull the board with the control unpowered and no battery on the machine and you lose parameters and part programs, so back the control up first. The EPROM side carries firmware — a replacement board arrives with whatever firmware level was fitted to it, which will not necessarily match your machine’s option set, so the version must be checked against the machine’s software level before the control will boot cleanly.
Seat the board in the same slot it came from and verify the CNC parameters and PMC ladder against a known-good backup after fitting. Static-sensitive; handle by the edges.
Board only. No main board, no card cage or rack, no power supply, no backup battery, no CRT/operator panel, no cables, connector kits or terminal boards, and no CNC, PMC or macro software, ladder program or documentation.
Sold as one board.
A16B-1210-0470, A16B12100470 and A16B-1210-0470/03B are the same part number and revision family. A16B-1210-0471 and A16B-1210-0340 are different boards and are not drop-in substitutes. Fanuc and GE Fanuc branded examples of this number are the same board.
