A FAG 2210-2RS-TV double-row self-aligning ball bearing, 50 mm bore, 90 mm outside diameter, 23 mm wide, with a contact rubber seal on each face. Two rows of balls run on a common spherical outer raceway, so the inner ring, ball complement and cage swivel freely inside the outer ring. That gives the bearing genuine self-alignment along with the very low friction characteristic of ball rolling elements.
22 is the ISO dimension series of the double-row self-aligning ball family and 10 is the bore code, giving 50 mm at five millimetres per unit. 2RS is a contact rubber seal on both faces; a single RS would be one seal with the opposite face open. TV is the glass-fibre reinforced polyamide cage. The absence of a K means a straight cylindrical bore.
A contact seal presses a rubber lip against a land on the inner ring, so it excludes fine dust and splash water and retains the factory grease charge, at the cost of some friction torque and a lower speed limit than an open or shielded bearing. On this variant the seal elastomer, and not the cage, sets the practical temperature ceiling: the polyamide cage runs to about 120 °C continuous while a standard nitrile seal is happier below about 100 °C.
A self-aligning ball bearing has the lowest friction of any rolling bearing type, which makes it the choice on long, unsupported or deflecting shafts where drive power is modest. The trade is capacity: point contact on the spherical outer raceway means the radial rating sits well below a roller bearing of the same envelope, and axial capacity is limited. Sealed and greased at manufacture, this variant suits dirty, wet or hard-to-reach positions where relubrication is not planned.
1 Pc. Complete bearing, sealed both faces, factory greased. No adapter sleeve, locknut or lockwasher, none of which a straight-bore bearing uses.
The straight bore goes onto a cylindrical shaft seat with an interference fit, pressed or heated against the inner ring face so no mounting force passes through the ball rows or the seals. Because the bearing self-aligns, the housing bore does not have to be square to the shaft, and the outer ring seat is normally a looser fit than on a rigid bearing so the ring can settle. The seals stay in place, since the grease charge is set at manufacture.
The ISO base number is 2210, so another maker’s 2210-2RS, 2210 E-2RS1TN9 or 2210 2RSTN sealed straight-bore double-row self-aligning ball bearing of the same 23 mm width is a genuine interchange. The open 2210-TV is a related size, not a substitution, because it has no seals and a higher speed limit. 2210-K-2RS-TV is the 1:12 taper-bore form requiring an H310 adapter sleeve, and 1210 shares the 50 mm bore in the narrower 12 series.
