FAG uses a K prefix on inch-series tapered roller cones, so K5557 is FAG’s build of the industry 5557 cone. The bare number 5557 is the same part in Timken and general industry nomenclature, and 5557-2 is a packaging variant. Because inch tapered bearings are quoted cone-and-cup, the assembly you are most likely looking for is 5557/5535.

This is a notably wide cone for its bore — 2.035 in of inner-ring width on a 2.6875 in bore — which is what gives the 5500 series its high thrust capability and long roller contact. That geometry suits heavily loaded, relatively slow shafts: trailer and truck wheel ends, industrial gear drives and roll necks. The long roller also means setting matters more, not less: a taper this wide is unforgiving of sloppy endplay.
One cone assembly ships. No cup, no spacer, no seal. Not a matched pair.
Press or heat the cone onto the shaft, driving only on the backface, then set endplay or preload against the cup once the cup is seated in its housing. Do not mate a new cone with a used cup; their wear tracks are matched to each other.
5557 is an industry base number shared across manufacturers, so Timken 5557, SKF 5557, Koyo 5557, NTN 5557 and Bower 5557 are the same envelope. FAG’s own listing carries the K prefix; a bare 5557 on a carton is the same cone. The mating cup is 5535 in all of these schemes.
