Correcting the source data

Earlier copy called this a power supply module for PLCs and industrial automation systems. It is neither of those things. It is a plug-in PCB from inside a specific family of Siemens feed drives — it will not power a PLC rack, it has no field-wiring terminal block, and it does nothing outside a SIMODRIVE 610 or 210 chassis. Buy it as a drive spare, not as a general-purpose supply.

Decoding the order code

6SC — Siemens order-number group for the SIMODRIVE 6SC drive generations. The later, and quite separate, generation carries 6SN (SIMODRIVE 611), and boards do not cross between them.6100 — the SIMODRIVE 610 / 210 feed drive family0GA — identifies the power supply board function within that family. The neighbouring 0GC boards are different functions in the same numbering block, so 0GA and 0GC are not substitutes.12 — the board version, which matches the trailing .12 of the 462 010.9060.12 board reference. Version matters: the .12 board and an earlier or later version of 462 010.9060 are not automatically interchangeable.

Feed drive versus main spindle drive — check which you have:
Siemens split these older SIMODRIVE cabinets by duty. The 610 and 210 designations are feed drive equipment, driving the axes. Main spindle drive equipment in the same era carried the SIMODRIVE 650 designation and its own set of boards. Both live in similar-looking racks and both use 6SC61xx order numbers, which is exactly why the wrong board gets ordered. Read the drive nameplate, not the rack, before you commit.

Installation and setup notes

Isolate, lock off and let the DC link discharge fully before opening the drive — SIMODRIVE cabinets of this generation retain a lethal charge after switch-off. Note the slot and orientation and photograph every ribbon and plug before you pull the outgoing board, then record the full order number and the trailing version digits from both the board label and the 462 010.9060.xx reference so you match like for like. Check the outgoing board for jumper or link settings and replicate them. On a supply board specifically, look for the failure that took it out before you fit the replacement: an internal short elsewhere in the drive, or a failed DC link component, will destroy a new supply board as fast as it destroyed the old one.

Order against the complete number, version digits included. 6SC6100-0GA00 is the same board function at a different version and is a related item rather than a guaranteed drop-in. 6SC6100-0GC14 is a different board in the same numbering block serving SIMODRIVE 650 main spindle drive equipment — a different function on different equipment, not an equivalent. The 6SN1118 and 6SN1123 boards belong to SIMODRIVE 611 and do not interchange with 6SC hardware at all.
