MRC 116KSG C3 single-row deep groove ball bearing. Bore 80 mm, outside diameter 125 mm, width 22 mm. Straight bore, open on both faces, with a snap ring groove machined in the outer ring and the matching retaining ring supplied.
In MRC’s 100 series the last two digits of the number multiplied by five give the bore in millimetres, so 116 is an 80 mm bore in the light dimension series. That places the bearing on the ISO 6016 envelope of 80 x 125 x 22 mm, which is why the carton also carries 6016 NR C3. C3 is the radial internal clearance class. K and SG are MRC execution suffixes carried here as carton markings.
C3 clearance runs looser than normal at rest, which suits an interference fit on the shaft, a warm running housing, or a shaft that grows relative to its housing under load. The snap ring groove lets the bearing be located axially in a through-bored housing without a separate shoulder or endcap, which shortens the housing and simplifies machining.
One bearing with its retaining ring. Open on both faces, no shields or seals.
Standard practice is an interference fit on the shaft and a location fit in the housing, with mounting force applied to the ring being fitted. The retaining ring seats in the outer ring groove and bears against the housing face, so the housing bore is machined straight through to the retaining shoulder. Grease charge or oil feed is set by the housing.
Any brand’s 6016 NR C3 fits the same shaft and housing seats and interchanges directly. A 6016 N is a related size with the groove but without the ring, and a plain 6016 C3 has neither, so both change how the bearing is located axially.
