This is a Siemens SIMODRIVE 611 power module — the axis inverter stage of a 611 drive stack. It takes DC from the common DC link and inverts it to three-phase PWM output to drive one or more servo axes. It is not the infeed: a 611 stack always needs a separate line-supply / infeed module (the 6SN114x range) to rectify the mains and charge the DC link, and nothing turns without one. Getting that tier right matters, because a 611 power module and a 611 infeed module bolt into the same rail and look similar on a shelf.
This unit ships with a 6SN1118-0AA11-0AA0 closed-loop control plug-in card fitted in the module’s front slot. On the 611 platform the power module supplies the power stage and the plug-in control card supplies the regulation, setpoint interface and encoder inputs — the two together make a usable drive, and a power module with no card in it is only half of one.
6SN1 — Siemens SIMODRIVE 611 system prefix.
123 — power module (the axis inverter). Compare 6SN114x for infeed / line-supply modules and 6SN111x for the plug-in control cards.
-1AA00 — the module form and cooling variant: internal heat dissipation (internal cooling), as opposed to the external-cooling and hollow-heatsink variants elsewhere in the range.
-0AA0 — the rating field, and the field you must match. Siemens sizes this family up a published ladder of rated output current: -0AA is the smallest step in the 6SN1123-1AA00 internal-cooling range, running upward through -0BA (25 A), -0CA (50 A), -0DA (80 A) and -0EA (160 A). The trailing digit (0, 1, 2) is the hardware generation within a rating.
Two things decide whether a 611 power module will serve your cabinet, and neither is the module’s physical size. First, the rating field must be at least as large as your motor’s rated and peak current — Siemens quotes the 6SN1123 range in output amps, and the corresponding motor currents differ by motor family (a 1FT5 rotor draws a different rated current from a 1FT6 or from an asynchronous main-spindle motor at the same module rating), so size against the motor nameplate rather than the kW figure. Second, internal cooling means the module dumps its heat into the cabinet. That is convenient and it is also a cabinet-climate calculation: an internal-cooling module in a sealed enclosure without a heat exchanger will run the cabinet up, and the mixed rail of internal- and external-cooling modules found in some machines is not freely interchangeable because the back panel cut-outs differ.
One power module ships, with the 6SN1118-0AA11-0AA0 control card fitted. No infeed / line-supply module, no servo motors, no DC-link busbars or jumper bars, no equipment bus ribbon, no mating connector or terminal kit, no encoder or power cabling, no NC control and no manual are included. SIMODRIVE 611 stacks are assembled module by module on a common rail; plan to reuse the busbars and bus cabling already in the cabinet.
The DC link holds a lethal charge after the mains is removed — isolate, lock out, wait for the bus to discharge and confirm with a meter at the busbars before touching anything. Modules mount side by side on the rail with the DC-link bars bridging them, so the order and spacing on the rail is fixed by the busbar geometry: dry-fit before you torque. Bond the module to the cabinet ground plane and keep motor power leads screened, with the screen landed at both ends and separated from the encoder loom — 611 encoder inputs are low level and will pick up PWM noise sharing a duct. After fitting, check the pulse-enable and drive-enable wiring to the control card before the first energisation, and confirm the module’s terminal covers are in place.
Searched as 6SN1123-1AA00-0AA0, 6SN11231AA000AA0, 6SN1123 1AA00 0AA0, 6SN1123-1AA000AA0 and SIMODRIVE 611 power module. Direct family relatives carried as cross-references: 6SN1123-1AA00-0AA1 and 6SN1123-1AA00-0AA2 are the same rating at later hardware generations and are the normal supersession path; 6SN1123-1AA00-0BA0/-0BA2, -0CA0/-0CA1, -0DA0/-0DA1 and -0EA1 are the same internal-cooling family at higher current ratings — same rail architecture and DC-link concept, different rating, so not drop-in. 6SN1123-1AB00-0AA1 is the adjacent module form in the same range. The plug-in card in this unit, 6SN1118-0AA11-0AA0, is itself a searchable part and is the analog-interface closed-loop control card for the platform. Siemens’ successor to SIMODRIVE 611 is SINAMICS S120, which is a cabinet rebuild rather than a module swap; 611 hardware is supported through repair-exchange and surplus, which is why tested takeouts are the practical source.
