An SKF 7017 C/C78 angular contact ball bearing with an 85 mm bore, a 130 mm outside diameter and a 22 mm width. It has a phenolic cage and is built to a special SKF preload specification.
7017: 70 angular contact series, 85 mm bore, 130 mm OD, 22 mm width. C: 15° contact angle in the SKF scheme. T: phenolic cage. C78 and G4: SKF special-execution codes, retained as search terms.
A 15° contact angle keeps the load line close to the radial plane, which limits centrifugal ball loading and raises the practical speed ceiling — the standard angle for high-speed spindle work. The 22 mm width in an 85 mm bore puts this in the light 70-series section, so the bearing fits where housing space is tight. The phenolic cage is light and self-lubricating, quiet at speed and tolerant of marginal lubrication, with a lower temperature ceiling than a brass cage.

Mounted singly it carries thrust in one direction, so an opposing bearing locates the shaft the other way.
Genuine equivalents are 15° angular contact bearings with a phenolic cage in the same 85x130x22 mm envelope: Fafnir 2MM9117WI-CR, FAG B7017-C-T-P4S, NSK 7017CTR and RHP 7017CT. The 25° version of this size, coded AC by SKF and A5 by NSK, is a related size rather than an interchange, because it changes axial rigidity and speed capability. The C78 special preload specification means the factory preload of this build differs from a standard-preload 7017 C.
