An angular contact ball bearing in the 7217 size, supplied as a single universally ground bearing. Bore 85 mm, outside diameter 150 mm, width 28 mm.
7217 — ISO angular contact 72-series: 85 mm bore, 150 mm outside diameter, 28 mm width.
C — 15° contact angle in the RHP scheme, the same class as the X2 suffix in the B-series numbering.
T — phenolic laminated-fabric cage.
SUL — single bearing, universally ground, light preload class.
P0 — normal precision class, corresponding to the EP1 code in the RHP B-series scheme.
Universal grinding at the normal precision class is an unusual and useful combination: the ring faces are ground so that two or more bearings stack into a defined light preload, while the running accuracy grade stays at normal rather than the tighter ABEC 5 or ABEC 7 grades. That suits shafts where axial location and stiffness matter more than runout, at a lower cost than a super-precision set. The 15° contact angle favours speed over thrust relative to a 25° or 40° bearing of the same envelope.
1 Pc — a single universally ground bearing. Light preload is developed when two or more are mounted together.
Where several of these are stacked, the preload is realised only when all inner rings and all outer rings are clamped solidly against their seats. Alignment marks on the ring faces set the intended arrangement.
The RHP B-series equivalent is B7217X2TAULEP1. Same-envelope 7217 bearings at a 25° or 40° contact angle, at a medium or heavy preload class, or at the P6 or P4 precision grades, are related sizes rather than interchanges.
