The barrel roller carries radial load and self-aligns on its spherical outer raceway, absorbing shaft deflection and housing misalignment without edge loading the rollers. Load is radial only. On a tapered bore the drive-up distance sets the final radial clearance, and C3 leaves room for that drive-up plus thermal growth of the inner ring.
