An SKF 7216BEM single-row angular contact ball bearing, 80 mm bore, 140 mm outside diameter, 26 mm width. Open on both faces, straight bore, machined brass cage, one row of balls.
In the SKF scheme 72 is the ISO dimension series and 16 the bore code, giving the 80 mm bore. The B is a 40° contact angle. The E marks the reinforced internal design, which raises the ball complement and the load rating over the earlier execution. The M is a machined brass cage. No tolerance suffix follows, so the bearing is normal class, P0 in the ISO scheme and ABEC 1 in the ANSI scheme.
A 40° contact angle is the highest of the standard single-row angular contact angles, so this bearing takes the largest axial load of the family in one direction and runs slower than a 15° or 25° execution of the same envelope. Single-row angular contact ball bearings support thrust in one direction only and are normally mounted against a second bearing that takes the opposing load. The machined brass cage tolerates higher temperatures and shock loading than a polyamide or pressed steel cage and is rigid enough for oil-jet lubrication.
One bearing per unit, single row. Two units mount back-to-back, face-to-face or in tandem where the shaft needs thrust capacity in both directions or a doubled axial rating.
The two ring faces are asymmetric: the outer ring has one high shoulder and one low shoulder, which sets which face carries the thrust. Orientation follows the load direction, and the high-shoulder side of the outer ring sits away from the axial load.
The FAG 7216-B-MP and the NSK 7216B are direct equivalents at the same 40° angle with a machined brass cage. SKF 7216 BECBM and 7216 BEGAM occupy the same 80 x 140 x 26 mm envelope at the same angle with different cage executions; 7216 BEP substitutes a glass-fibre polyamide cage and is a related size rather than a like-for-like swap where cage material matters.
