What this part is

Siemens SIMODRIVE 611 power module — the axis inverter section of a 611 drive stack. It takes DC from the drive group’s common DC link and inverts it to three-phase PWM output for a servo motor. Line rectification and DC-link charging are handled by a separate line-supply / infeed module from the 6SN114x range.

This unit carries the PWM interface build: the power stage is commanded by pulse-width-modulation signals from an external controller, which closes the current loop.

Rating and cooling

Siemens quotes the 6SN1123 range in module output amps. Rated motor current at a given module rating differs by motor family: 1FT5 servos, 1FT6 servos and asynchronous main-spindle motors each draw a different rated current on the same frame.

Internal cooling releases the module’s losses into the cabinet air; at the 80 A step that is a substantial heat load, and the enclosure needs a heat exchanger or fan set to carry it. Back-panel cut-out and airflow path differ between the internal-cooling and external-cooling module forms.
