Rockwell advises checking the terminal rear label for final ratings and certifications — series C and D differ (backlight 2711-NL9 vs 2711-NL10). MTBF not published. A PanelView Standard 1000 operator terminal: 10-inch colour active-matrix TFT, 640 x 480, touch screen, EtherNet/IP, AC powered. Rockwell’s own catalogue description for 2711-T10C20 lists RS-232 print support, 1008 KB nonvolatile memory and 310 KB RAM.
Catalogue number decoded — and the “20” that everyone gets wrong:
2711 — PanelView Standard family.T — touch screen (K = keypad only, B = keypad plus touch).10 — 10-inch display.C — colour (G = greyscale, A = monochrome).20 — EtherNet/IP.That last field is worth dwelling on, because “20” is frequently misread as DH+, Remote I/O or a serial option. It is not. In the PanelView Standard scheme the comms codes run: 1 = Remote I/O, 3 = DH-485 (RJ45), 8 = DH+, 9 = RS-232 (DH-485), 10 and 14 = DeviceNet, 12 = RS-232, 15 = ControlNet, 16 = RS-232 (DF1), and 20 = EtherNet/IP. So this is the Ethernet terminal — the most useful and most sought-after variant of the PanelView 1000, and the only one you can drop onto a modern plant network without a gateway.
The absence of a trailing L1 is the other key decode: no L1 means AC power. A 2711-T10C20L1 would be the 18–32 V DC version. Get this wrong and you will be looking for DC terminals that do not exist.
Colour active-matrix TFT — an LCD, not a CRT, so no convergence drift and no high-voltage tube to fail. Active area 211 x 158 mm (8.3 x 6.2 in.) at 640 x 480. The backlight is field-replaceable with a 50,000-hour half-life at 25 °C, which is the single most valuable serviceability feature on a terminal of this age — a dim screen is a backlight, not a scrap unit. Note the backlight part number differs by series (2711-NL9 versus 2711-NL10), so read the label on the back before ordering one. The touch screen has 384 touch cells rated for one million presses.
85–264 V AC, 47–63 Hz, 55 VA maximum. Heat dissipation is 39 W (132 BTU/hr) — budget that into the enclosure, because a sealed door-mounted terminal has nowhere to put it.
Overall 282 x 370 x 112 mm (11.11 x 14.58 x 4.40 in.), weight 3.6 kg (7.9 lb). Panel cutout 257 x 338 mm (10.11 x 13.29 in.), secured by six mounting clips torqued to 1.13 N·m. Sealing: NEMA Type 12, 13 and 4X (indoor only), IEC IP54 and IP65. Note the 4X rating is indoor-only — do not specify this for an outdoor washdown location.
Rated Class I Division 2 Groups A–D, Class II Division 2 Groups F and G, and Class III. Listed to UL 508, UL 1604, UL 2279, CSA 22.2 No. 142 and No. 213, EN 61131-2, CE and Korea EMC. Rockwell’s own caution applies: read the terminal’s rear label for the definitive ratings and certifications of your specific series.
Operating 0 to 55 °C, storage −25 to 70 °C, 5–95% RH non-condensing. Vibration 2 g to 2000 Hz; shock 15 g operating, 30 g non-operating; altitude to 2000 m.
Applications are built in PanelBuilder32 — legacy software you will need a copy of, and it does not run in FactoryTalk View. ATA memory cards are supported for application transfer. The real-time clock battery is field-replaceable (2711-NB4 for series C and later); on a terminal of this vintage, expect to replace it.
This is a discontinued catalogue number. Rockwell’s own migration table maps 2711-T10C20 to 2711P-T12W22A9P — a PanelView Plus 7 Performance 12.1-inch widescreen, AC powered — with adapter plate 2711P-RAAT12 to reuse the existing panel cutout for touch models. (The DC variant maps to 2711P-T12W22D9P.)
That migration is real but it is not free: new hardware, a new application in FactoryTalk View ME, re-testing, and operator retraining on a differently proportioned screen. For a machine that is running fine on a PanelBuilder32 application, a tested like-for-like PanelView 1000 is the cheap, low-risk answer — no software conversion, no cutout change, no revalidation.
Seller refurbished and tested. The photographs show the terminal powered up with the display lit and the Allen-Bradley and PanelView 1000 bezel legends intact. There is visible adhesive residue and light scuffing on the bezel and around the screen surround from previously fitted overlays or labels — cosmetic, and typical of a panel pulled from service. Review all photographs before purchase.
