Siemens 6SN1114-0AA01-0AA0, the parameter module for SIMODRIVE 611 analog feed-drive control modules fitted with the user-friendly interface. It is a small plug-in memory board that holds the machine-specific drive parameters in non-volatile storage so they survive a power-down and a control-module change. It plugs into the front of the control module. It is not a drive, not an amplifier and not a control module in its own right — it is the memory that a particular class of 611 control module cannot run without. Siemens’ internal board number is 462 007.9400.03.

The neighbouring number is the one to be careful about. 6SN1114-0AA02-0AA0 is the option module that adds main spindle drive (MSD/HS) functions to a user-friendly FD control module. Per Siemens’ SIMODRIVE 611 analog configuring tables, the -0AA01- parameter module is Required for the FD analog user-friendly control module, while the -0AA02- main spindle option is merely Possible. They are different parts doing different jobs and one will not substitute for the other.
Note the family digits too: 6SN11xx is SIMODRIVE 611. The earlier SIMODRIVE 610 uses 6SC61xx numbers and is a different drive generation entirely.

SIMODRIVE 611 analog offered two interface versions of the feed-drive control module with the same control quality but different links to the machine control: a standard interface and a user-friendly interface. The user-friendly version gains a second speed setpoint input and a richer signal interface, and it is that version which needs this parameter module — the machine-specific settings live here rather than on the control board, so they cannot be lost. If your control module has the standard interface, it does not take this board at all.
The practical value of a separate parameter module shows up in service. Because the parameters sit on a plug-in board, a failed control module can be swapped and the original parameter module carried across, and the axis comes back with its own settings rather than needing a full re-commission. That cuts downtime substantially on a machine whose parameter set was never archived — which describes a great many machines of this age.
The corollary matters when buying used: a surplus parameter module carries whatever data was last written to it, which will be another machine’s settings, not yours. Treat the contents as unknown and plan to write your own parameters. Do not assume a second-hand board arrives blank, and do not assume it arrives with anything useful.

The module inserts into the front of the control module — isolate the drive and allow the DC link capacitors to discharge fully before working at the module front, as the surrounding 611 hardware holds a hazardous charge after the mains has been removed. Confirm first that your control module is the user-friendly interface version and not the standard interface one, since only the former accepts this board. Write the correct axis parameters after fitting and verify them before enabling motion; commission with the axis unloaded or on soft limits rather than trusting inherited data. Keep a written or archived copy of the parameter set independently of the board — a parameter module is a single point of failure for the settings it holds. Handle as static-sensitive.
6SN1114-0AA01-0AA0 is also written 6SN11140AA010AA0 and 6SN1114-0AA01-0AA0; the equivalent Siemens board number is 462 007.9400.03. Siemens documentation also references a closely related 6SN1114-0AA01-0AA1 parameter board, so check the final digit against your machine’s parts list. 6SN1114-0AA02-0AA0 is the main spindle option module and is not an equivalent — different function. The PROFIBUS-DP option modules in the same 1114 range (6SN1114-0NB00-0AA1, 6SN1114-0NB01-0AA0) belong to SIMODRIVE 611 universal and are unrelated to this analog parameter board.
