What this part is

A GE Fanuc IC754GEN001-AA Genius network communication option card for the QuickPanel View and QuickPanel Control operator-interface family. It is an expansion option card that installs into the option bay of a QuickPanel unit and gives that panel a Genius I/O bus port, so the HMI can talk directly to Genius-based PLCs, Genius I/O blocks and Genius bus controllers.

It is a communication option card, not the operator interface itself and not a display. There is no screen, no touch panel, no processor board and no enclosure in this listing — the card is useless on its own and must be fitted into a host QuickPanel.

Decoding the order code

What these specs mean in practice

Genius is GE Fanuc’s legacy serial I/O bus, and it is not the same network as Ethernet, Profibus, DeviceNet or SNP serial. Fitting this card is the way to put a QuickPanel on an existing Genius bus without a protocol gateway. If your plant network is Ethernet or SNP, this is the wrong option card — check which network your bus controller uses before buying. The card is specific to the QuickPanel View / Control generation; it will not fit the earlier QuickPanel Junior or the later Emerson QuickPanel+ platforms.

What is not included

Option card only. This listing does not include a QuickPanel View or QuickPanel Control operator interface, the panel’s power supply or 24 V DC supply, the Genius bus cable or trunk terminating resistors, connector or terminal-block kits, mounting hardware or gaskets, a CompactFlash or memory card, Machine Edition / Proficy configuration software, a licence key, or any documentation or driver media. Genius bus wiring must be properly terminated at both trunk ends; those resistors are not supplied.

Installation and setup notes

Power down and isolate the QuickPanel before opening the option bay; the card is not hot-pluggable. Handle it by the edges with a wrist strap. After fitting, the Genius device must be given a bus address and configured in the panel’s project — the card does not communicate until the driver is configured and downloaded. Genius baud rate and address must match the rest of the bus, and no two devices may share an address.
