The nameplate reads MODEL CODE DG4V-3S-2C-M-U-B5-60, RATED FATIGUE PRESSURE P, A & B – 350 bar (5000 psi), T – 100 bar (1450 psi), assembly marking 02-109686 L06S, Eaton Hydraulics, Inc., Made in U.S.A. Both ends are stamped OPERATOR A and OPERATOR B, confirming the double-solenoid build. The coil labels read Vickers P/N 02-101726, 110V50 .48AMP, 120V60 .46AMP with UL/CSA file MH19333. That coil marking is the single most useful fact on the valve and it is the one most often guessed wrong online: this is an AC-coil valve, not 24 VDC.
D directional control valve – G subplate mounted – 4 solenoid operated – V 350 bar rated pressure class3 – ISO 4401-03 interface, also called CETOP 3 and NFPA D03. Mounting-surface bolt pattern is 1.250 in / 31.75 mm centres with the standard 4 mm locating-pin hole; mounting bolts are grade 12.9 (SAE grade 7) or better at 4.5-6.0 N.m (40-50 lb.in). Subplate and bolt kit are separate items (e.g. DGVM-3-10-S subplate, BK590716 inch bolt kit).S – standard-performance build of the DG4V-3 line, as distinct from the specialised soft-shift and higher-flow variants in the same family.2 – closed-centre spool: all four ports blocked in the centre position. This is the spool you choose when a de-energised valve must hold a cylinder in place rather than let it drift or free-float. If your circuit needs the pump unloaded at centre, spool 0 (open centre) or 8 (tandem) is the one you want, not this.C – spring-centred, two solenoids, three positions. Energise solenoid A for one direction, B for the other, release both and the springs return the spool to blocked centre.M – the flag character that separates the hydraulic options from the electrical ones. Fluorocarbon (Viton-type) seals are standard on this series.U – DIN 43650 coil connectors, the two black moulded plugs visible at each end. Coils change out without breaking into the hydraulic circuit, which is the practical argument for this line: a burnt coil is a five-minute job, not a valve replacement.B5 – 110 V 50 Hz / 120 V 60 Hz coils with the 100 bar (1450 psi) tank-port pressure rating, both confirmed by the nameplate and coil label on this valve.60 – 60-series design number.
Seals. Fluorocarbon is standard, which means multi-fluid capability without a seal change: phosphate ester and its blends, water glycol, water-in-oil emulsions and ordinary petroleum oil all run on the same valve. That is not true of nitrile-sealed competitors.Tank line. The 100 bar / 1450 psi T-port ceiling is the number that catches people out. If this valve sits downstream of a manifold that sees high return-line backpressure, or if it is stacked over another valve returning through the same T, check the pressure at T rather than assuming it matches the 5000 psi P rating.Flow. Eaton rates the DG4V-3 family up to roughly 80 L/min (21 US gpm). Actual usable flow is spool- and pressure-dependent; the 2C spool has its own pressure-drop and maximum-flow curve in Eaton’s DG4V-3 data, so size from the curve rather than from the headline figure.Silting. Any sliding-spool valve held shifted under pressure for long periods can silt up and fail to spring-return. Eaton’s own guidance is to cycle the valve periodically in circuits where it sits energised for hours.Fluid cleanliness. ISO 19/17/14 is recommended at 3000 psi and above for maximum life.Weight. Double-solenoid DG4V-3 models are approximately 2.1 kg (4.6 lb).Manual override is fitted in the solenoid end only on this build (no P2 option in the code).
The mounting surface must be flat within 0.013 mm (0.0005 in) and smooth within 1.1 micrometre – a scored or burred subplate face is the usual cause of a valve that leaks internally straight out of the box. AC coils on a directional valve give fast shift but draw a high inrush; if you are switching them from a PLC output rather than a contactor, check the output’s inrush rating or fit an interposing relay.
Vickers hydraulics passed to Eaton and then, in 2021, to Danfoss Power Solutions, so the same valve appears under Vickers, Eaton Vickers and Danfoss branding depending on vintage. Cross-references that share this envelope include DG4V-3S-2C-M-FW-B5-60 (flying-lead coils with 1/2 in NPT wiring housing instead of DIN plugs) and DG4V-3S-2C-M-U-H5-60 / -G5-60 (same valve, different coil voltage). Any D03 four-way three-position closed-centre valve on the ISO 4401-03 pattern from Parker (D1VW), Rexroth (4WE6) or Continental will bolt to the same subplate, but the coil voltage, connector style and T-port rating must be matched separately.
