GE193X532ADG04193X Series Motor Field Control Board, DC Drive Shunt Field Regulator Card, G04 Variant

Condition: New

Availability:

2 in stock

GE 193X-series motor field control board — the field regulator card for a GE industrial DC drive. It controls the shunt field current of the DC motor, which is what sets flux and makes field weakening and base-speed-and-above operation possible. Assembled card with fuses on a mounting plate; plug-in card rack item. Sold as 1 piece.

Product Description

What this part is

A General Electric 193X532ADG04 Motor Field Control board. It is the field regulator card from GE’s 193X family of drive control cards, and it regulates the shunt field current of a DC motor in a GE industrial drive.

Correcting the source data

Earlier copy described this generically as an electrical component for controlling and regulating electrical power in industrial and commercial applications. That could describe half the contents of a switchroom. This card has one specific job: motor field control. It regulates field, not armature. It is not a speed regulator, not a coordination card, and not an armature power bridge.

Decoding the part number

193X — GE’s drawing prefix for this generation of plug-in drive control and regulator cards532 — the board drawing number, which fixes the function as motor field controlAD — drawing revision lettersG04 — group / variant number. The G-number encodes the configuration this card was built for, so a G04 is not automatically a substitute for a G01, G02 or G03 of the same board.

Why the field card is the one that strands a machine:
In a shunt-wound DC drive, armature voltage sets speed up to base speed and field current sets flux. Above base speed you cannot raise armature voltage any further, so the drive weakens the field instead — and that is entirely the field card’s doing. Consequences worth knowing: a drive that runs fine at low speed but will not reach top speed, or that loses torque above base speed, or that overspeeds alarmingly on a field loss, is pointing at the field regulator, not the armature side. A genuine loss of field on a running DC motor is a runaway hazard, which is why these cards carry their own protection and why field loss detection is not something to bypass to get a line running.

Installation and setup notes

Isolate and lock off, then confirm both the AC supply and the DC bus are dead before you open the rack — a field card sits in the control section but its circuits reach live field wiring. Photograph card positions and every ribbon, plug and terminal before removal, and record the complete number including the revision letters and G-number of the card you take out. Check the three fuses on the outgoing card and note their ratings; a field card that failed usually took a fuse with it, and fitting the replacement card without addressing whatever blew them will simply blow the new one. Replicate any jumper or link settings from the outgoing card, since GE cards of this generation are configured by hardware links. Verify field current against the motor nameplate at first energisation, and prove field loss detection before running the motor above base speed.

Quantity and configuration

One card assembly. The drive cabinet, card rack, backplane, ribbon and field wiring, terminal boards, replacement fuses, the other regulator and coordination cards, and the cabinet documentation are not included.

Interchange guidance

Match the whole string, revision letters and G-number included. Other 193X cards do different jobs and are not substitutes — 193X701 is a coordination board, a separate function entirely. Also written 193X-532ADG04, 193X-532AD-G04, 193X532AD G04, 193X 532 AD G04 and 193X532ADG4. Note that some surplus listings put this card under the GEMCO name; it is a General Electric part.
