A GE Fanuc Series Six combined memory module, IC600CM552A, at the 2K logic capacity. On a Series Six controller this module is where the machine’s program lives: it carries the logic memory that holds the ladder program and the register memory that holds data words, both on the same card, plus the internal memory support circuitry.
The memory is CMOS RAM — volatile, retained by a lithium-manganese-dioxide backup battery in the controller. It is a memory module: no processor, no I/O points, no display.
IC – GE Fanuc Automation industrial controls prefix.600 – the Series Six PLC family (Model 60 / 600 / 6000). Neighbouring GE Fanuc groups do not interchange: IC610 is Series One, IC630 is Series Three, IC693 is Series 90-30, IC697 is Series 90-70.CM – the Series Six module class for memory modules. Series Six CPU and control modules carry CB; I/O-rack functional and interface modules carry BF; the later combined memory cards carry LX.552 – the specific memory module and its capacity within the family. Siblings in the same group carry different capacities — IC600CM542 and IC600CM548 are other Series Six memory modules, not substitutes.A – the hardware revision letter. A revision suffix, not a different product.
Function: combined memory module — logic memory plus register memory plus internal memory circuitsLogic memory: 2K 16-bit wordsMemory technology: CMOS RAM, battery-backed (lithium-manganese-dioxide)Platform: GE Fanuc Series Six, Model 60 / 600 / 6000 CPUsWord width: 16-bit throughout, for both logic and register memorySeries Six Plus note: does not provide parity checking when used in a Series Six Plus PLC
2K of logic is the number to check first. Series Six combined memory modules were built at 2K and 4K logic, with correspondingly different register counts. A control whose program was written for a 4K module will not load into a 2K one — the program simply will not fit, and the failure looks like a memory fault rather than a capacity problem. Read the capacity on the module you are replacing, or check the program size in your Logicmaster listing, before ordering.
The parity note matters if you are running Series Six Plus. This module works in a Series Six Plus PLC but does not give you parity checking there, so if your application relies on memory parity detection you want a parity-capable module instead.
And because the memory is volatile CMOS RAM, the backup battery is not an optional accessory — it is what stops your ladder program disappearing at the next power-down. Treat a used memory module as blank: keep an offline copy of the program and plan to reload it.
Module only. This listing does not include the lithium backup battery, the Series Six CPU rack or I/O rack, the rack power supply, the CPU or control module, any I/O modules, terminal blocks or connector kits, a programmer, Logicmaster software or programming cable, the ladder program or register data, or any documentation. No program content is supplied or warranted — assume the module arrives with no usable memory contents.
Sold as 1 piece — one combined memory module. New old stock, in an opened box.
Power down the rack before inserting or removing the module, and handle it by the edges with a wrist strap. Fit a fresh backup battery before you load a program, not after — loading into an unbacked memory and then discovering the battery is flat is a wasted afternoon. Verify the module’s capacity against your program size, load from a known-good offline copy, and prove the ladder scans clean before running the machine. If the controller has sat for years, check the battery holder and the old battery for leakage and corrosion before fitting anything.
Searchable equivalents of the same part: IC600CM552A, IC600CM552, IC600-CM-552-A, IC600 CM 552 A, IC600CM552-A. Other revision letters of IC600CM552 are the same module at a different revision. Not interchangeable: IC600CM542, IC600CM548 and the IC600LX6xx combined memory cards are different Series Six memory modules with different capacities or architectures, and modules from Series One, Series Three or the Series 90 families are different platforms entirely.
Earlier copy gave the platform as “Series 60” and described the part as offering “logical functionality”. The platform is GE Fanuc Series Six, and Model 60 is the CPU model within it; the module stores the logic program, it does not execute it.
