A Timken 52639 tapered roller bearing cup — the outer race of a TS single-row tapered roller bearing, 6-3/8 in outside diameter and 1-9/16 in wide. The cup is a single hardened and ground steel ring carrying the outer raceway.
1 Pc. Cup only. The matching cone is the Timken 52375.
A tapered roller bearing is built in two halves that are stocked and replaced separately: the cup presses into the housing, and the cone carries the rollers and cage and goes onto the shaft. The cup holds the outer raceway and nothing else. The 52375 half it mates with runs a 3-3/4 in bore, which puts this bearing in the range used for heavy shafting, gearbox output positions and industrial wheel ends.
The raceway angle is built into the cup number, and cup and cone are ground as a matched geometric pair. The 52375 cone measures 1.4219 in across its own width, and the same cone is catalogued as NA52375 when it is furnished for two-row service.
The cup presses squarely into the housing bore and seats fully against its shoulder, with the force applied to the back face rather than to the raceway. Setting of the bearing happens on the cone side, by adjusting the axial position of one race against the other once both are seated.
New old stock with surface staining from storage. The raceway and the ground faces are unused.
52639 is an industry-standard cup number, so a cup marked 52639 from another tapered roller bearing maker shares the envelope and the same 52375 mating cone. The 52618 and 52630X are different cups that also mate with a 52375 cone but have different outside diameters, so they are related sizes rather than substitutions for this cup.
