A Timken 362B-0 tapered roller bearing cup: the outer race of a two-part tapered roller bearing, with a flange on the outside diameter. Outside diameter is 3.5433 in (90.00 mm) and width is 0.8125 in (20.64 mm). Material is case-carburized bearing steel and the part weighs 0.50 lb.
362B is the base cup number and the trailing 0 is Timken’s precision Class 0 designation, confirmed by the carton marking. Timken grades tapered roller precision as Class 4, Class 2, Class 3, Class 0 and Class 00, running from the loosest to the tightest, so Class 0 sits above the Class 2 and Class 3 grades that cover most industrial stock. Cone and cup carry separate part numbers in this scheme, and the cup number identifies the outside diameter, the raceway angle and the housing envelope.
A cup has no bore and no seal. Its internal surface is the single ground tapered raceway and its external cylindrical surface is the housing fit. The roller complement and the cage are retained on the mating cone.
The flange on the outside diameter locates the cup axially against the face of the housing, so the housing needs a through bore and a flat abutment face rather than an internal shoulder. That simplifies the housing machining and gives a positive axial stop in one direction from the outside of the assembly, which is why flanged cups are common in wheel hubs, pump bodies and light gearbox castings.
Class 0 tightens outside diameter, width and raceway runout tolerances relative to the standard grades. On a bearing of this size the practical gain is lower runout at the raceway and a more repeatable endplay setting at assembly, which matters where a shaft position has to hold to a few microns. The trade is a narrower housing fit window, so the bore has to be held closer in both size and roundness.

The cup presses into the housing bore until the flange seats against the housing face. The cone is fitted separately on the shaft journal and the assembly is then set to the specified endplay or preload by moving one race axially. Support across the full 0.8125 in of the outer surface keeps the raceway round under radial load.
Any manufacturer’s 362B cup made to the same imperial envelope and to Class 0 is a direct interchange. A plain 362B in a looser class shares the envelope and is a related item where Class 0 accuracy is specified. The 362A is a related size in the same family at the same 3.5433 in outside diameter and 0.8125 in width but without the flange, which changes how the cup is located in the housing.
