What ships and what does not

This is the take-up unit itself. There is no take-up frame, no rails and no adjusting screw. Take-up blocks and their frames are ordered separately, and a block only slides in a frame whose slot width and rail spacing match it — so measure your existing frame before buying, or budget for a matching frame. If you have a serviceable frame and a worn block, this is the part you want.

Decoding the designation

V = Browning mounted ball bearing series. TW = take-up, wide slot. E = eccentric locking collar. 219 = 19/16 inch shaft, i.e. 1-3/16 in. Browning’s setscrew-locking equivalent of the same block reads VTWS, and the corresponding pillow block series is VF.

What these specs mean in practice

Wide slot is a dimensional class, not a description — wide slot and narrow slot take-up blocks are not interchangeable in the same frame. Get that right before anything else.

An eccentric collar cams tight in one direction of rotation and grips an unmachined shaft without indenting it, which suits the plain cold-drawn shafting typical of conveyor tail pulleys. It can back off on a hard-reversing drive, so a setscrew block is the better answer there.

A take-up position is inherently a moving position. Keep both blocks on a shaft advancing evenly or you introduce misalignment; the insert’s spherical seat takes up a static error, not a progressive one.

Quantity and configuration

Sold as 1 pc — one take-up block with its insert and eccentric collar. Most conveyors need two, one each side, so check what you are replacing.

Fitting notes

Clean the frame slot and rails so the block slides freely, then fit both blocks and bring them up evenly on the adjusting screws. Set the collar last: turn it in the direction of shaft rotation until it cams tight, then tighten its setscrew onto the collar rather than the shaft. Check the shaft is square to the frame before final tensioning.

Interchange guidance

Wide slot take-up blocks in this bore also come from Dodge (TP, WSTU, TPHU), SealMaster (ST) and Link-Belt. Slot width, rail spacing and overall block height differ by maker and by frame series, so verify against the frame you have rather than by bore alone. Related, not interchangeable: Browning VTWS-219 uses setscrew locking instead of the collar, and narrow slot blocks of the same bore will not fit a wide slot frame.
