An SKF 22218 CCK/W33 double-row spherical roller bearing with a 90 mm tapered bore, 160 mm outside diameter and 40 mm width. The two rows of barrel-shaped rollers run on a common spherical outer raceway, so the bearing accommodates shaft misalignment and housing deflection while carrying very heavy radial load. It is a standard bearing for vibrating screens, conveyor pulleys, fans, gearboxes, crushers and paper machinery.
22218 — double-row spherical roller bearing, 90 x 160 x 40 mm, 222-series sectionCC — pressed-steel cage with an inner-ring guide flangeK — 1:12 tapered boreW33 — lubrication groove around the outer ring plus three radial lubrication holes
Self-alignment is the defining property. The spherical outer raceway lets the inner ring and roller set swivel within the outer ring, so a shaft that sits a fraction of a degree out of line with its housing does not load the roller ends. That tolerance is why spherical roller bearings dominate on long conveyor shafts and screen bodies where perfect alignment cannot be held.
Because there are two roller rows set at opposing angles, the bearing takes axial load in both directions as well as radial load, and it does so without a second thrust bearing in the arrangement.
The 1:12 tapered bore is a mounting feature rather than a load feature. The bearing is drawn up a matching taper — a sleeve or a tapered shaft seat — and the drive-up distance sets the interference fit and therefore the residual internal clearance. That gives repeatable clearance control on site without a press or an induction heater.
W33 lubrication features let grease enter through the housing and reach the middle of the roller set directly, rather than travelling in past the seals from one side. On a large slow-turning bearing with a relubrication schedule, that shortens the grease path and keeps both rows fed evenly.

One bearing ships. The matching adapter sleeve is not included — the K bore mounts on an SKF H318 sleeve, which seats on an 80 mm cylindrical shaft, together with a KM18 lock nut and MB18 lock washer. Housings, seals and locking hardware are supplied separately.
Mounting a tapered-bore bearing is a drive-up operation: the bearing advances along the taper until the measured reduction in internal radial clearance reaches the value tabulated for the size and clearance class. Clearance is measured with a feeler gauge across the unloaded top roller before and during drive-up. On a plain cylindrical shaft the sleeve does the tapering; on a shaft machined with its own 1:12 seat the bearing goes on directly and a lock nut retains it.
Same-specification equivalents are other makers’ 22218 K W33 spherical rollers with a pressed-steel cage: FAG 22218 E1 K, NSK 22218 EAKE4, Timken 22218KEJW33C3, Koyo 22218RHRKW33, NTN 22218EAKD1. The straight-bore 22218 CC/W33 is a different part — it mounts on a cylindrical seat and takes no adapter sleeve. Brass-cage variants such as 22218 CAK/W33 or 22218 MBK carry different load ratings and speed limits and are a specification change rather than a like-for-like swap.
