Decoding the designation

NK — machined needle roller bearing element. The needle rollers run directly on the shaft, so the shaft seat doubles as the inner raceway.

X — axial ball bearing component added to the needle roller assembly, acting in one direction.

60 — bore diameter in millimetres.

XL — Schaeffler’s current-generation designation for this part. Schaeffler lists NKX60 on the NKX60-XL page as the replaced number, so the two are the same bearing.

What these specs mean in practice

The needle roller set gives a 47,500 N dynamic radial rating in a 12 mm radial section — roughly triple what a ball bearing of the same envelope would carry.
