Decoding the designation

NN — double-row cylindrical roller bearing with three flanges on the inner ring and a flangeless outer ring. The rings separate, and the bearing accommodates axial displacement of the shaft in both directions.

30 — ISO dimension series 30. 15 — bore code. Bore Diameter: 75 mm.

K — 1:12 tapered bore. Driving the inner ring up the taper expands it and sets radial clearance or preload to a measured figure at assembly.

Two rows of cylindrical rollers give very high radial capacity and very high radial rigidity in a 30 mm width. A cylindrical roller bearing has no contact angle and takes no axial load, which is why the NN 30 series is used as the front radial bearing of a machine-tool spindle with a separate thrust bearing setting axial position.

Limiting Speed: 7,500 rpm grease; 8,500 rpm oil. Internal Clearance: C1, tighter than normal, which is what a preloaded spindle arrangement calls for.

The W33 groove and its three radial holes take lubricant from the housing lubrication port. Grease guns, single-point lubricators, centralised grease systems, circulating oil and oil mist all feed through the same passages.
