A single-row SKF 7212 angular contact ball bearing, 60 mm bore x 110 mm OD x 22 mm wide, with a phenolic cage. Angular contact ball bearings take radial load together with thrust in one direction, and the 7200 light series at this bore is a common choice for pump and blower shafts, gearbox input shafts, machine tool spindles and vertical shafts.

C78 and G1 are carried here as searchable designations rather than published as specifications, because SKF does not publish a public definition for either.
The phenolic cage is light, quiet and self-lubricating, which suits higher speeds, but it should be kept away from solvents, steam cleaning and sustained high temperature. The C78 special class is the part of this designation that actually matters when ordering: a special preload or clearance specification means the bearing was built for a particular machine, and a standard 7212 is not automatically a substitute for it. Match the full designation rather than just the base number.
One further point worth knowing: contact angle is scheme-dependent on 7200-series numbers. SKF writes 25° as AC or ACD, whereas C means 15° in the Timken/Fafnir and RHP schemes and MRC’s own 7000-series parts are 29°. A number that looks the same across two catalogues can be a different angle, so match to the maker’s designation, not the digits.

One bearing. On its own it takes thrust in one direction only. Two mounted back-to-back or face-to-face locate a shaft axially in both directions; two in tandem carry heavier thrust in one direction. Because this carries a special preload class, pair it only with another bearing of the same full designation.
Angular contact bearings are direction-sensitive — identify the thick outer-ring shoulder and orient it towards the thrust load before pressing. Mount clean and press only on the ring being fitted; never drive mounting force through the balls. Use the shaft and housing fits specified for the machine, since an over-tight bore fit will change the internal preload. Keep the phenolic cage away from solvents and steam.
Search terms for this bearing include 7212CTC, 7212-CTC-C78-G1, 7212CTCC78G1 and the base 7212 designation. Related but NOT interchangeable: a standard 7212 without the C78 class has a different internal specification; 7212 ACD is SKF’s 25° super-precision version; 7212B is 40°; and a pressed-steel or machined-brass cage version carries different speed and rating characteristics. Because the special class governs the internal setting, treat a plain 7212 as a related size rather than an equivalent.
