Product Description

What this part is:

SKF 234720-BM1/SP double-direction axial angular contact thrust ball bearing, series 2347. Bore: 103 mm. Outside diameter: 150 mm. Total width: 60 mm. Two ball rows, 60° contact angle, separable matched component set, open.

Decoding the designation:

2347: double-direction axial angular contact series, oversize bore execution on the 150 mm outside diameter and 60 mm width envelope. BM1: machined brass cage. SP: special precision tolerance class, held to restricted running accuracy.

What these specs mean in practice:

A 60° contact angle puts almost the whole load path along the axis, which is what makes this type the standard fixed bearing for a ball screw drive. Both rows act in opposite directions, so one bearing locates the screw in both directions without a second unit. On a 60° double-direction thrust type the static rating sits far above the dynamic rating, and that is the normal relationship for this family. Running accuracy: 0.002 mm.

Cage construction:

Machined brass cage. A machined brass cage carries higher loads and tolerates higher temperatures and marginal lubrication better than a pressed or polymer cage, which is why it is standard on precision screw-support bearings.

Quantity and configuration:

One bearing unit, supplied as a separable matched component set. Mass: 3.61 kg (7.95 lbs).

Interchange guidance:

Related sizes in the same 60° screw-support family on the 150 x 60 mm envelope: FAG 234420-M-SP and NSK 100BAR10S, both at a 100 mm bore, making them a related size rather than a direct interchange. SKF’s current BTW series replaces the 2344 and 2347 designations. Searchable forms: 234720BM1SP, 234720-BM1/SP, 234720 BM1 SP, 234720BM1/SP, 234720.
