What the 30 degree angle and the thin section mean in practice:
Two things are going on here. The 30° contact angle steepens the load line through the balls, so the bearing takes considerably more one-direction thrust and deflects less axially than a 15° equivalent — at the cost of top speed, because a steeper angle increases ball spin and cage load. Separately, the 70-series thin section means the raceways sit in relatively thin rings. That makes the bearing sensitive to housing and shaft geometry: an out-of-round housing bore or a heavy-handed interference fit will distort the raceway far more readily than it would on a chunky 72- or 73-series bearing. The carton designation for this lot carries a DB duplex reference because the original packaging described a back-to-back pair, but these are held and sold as loose singles from a larger quantity. Treat them as singles: they are not a factory-matched, ground-to-preload set unless we confirm the markings on your specific pieces. Two unmatched singles clamped back-to-back will not deliver a predictable preload, which on a precision spindle is the difference between a rebuild that works and one that runs hot.

Fitting notes:
A single angular contact bearing takes thrust in one direction only and must be axially opposed — by a second angular contact bearing, a deep groove bearing, or a shoulder and locknut. Respect the abutment diameters above; clamping past them onto the raceway shoulder will pinch the rings. Rings and balls are matched at assembly, so do not swap inner and outer rings between bearings.
