An MRC 5209CF double-row angular contact ball bearing, 45 mm bore, 85 mm outside diameter, 30.16 mm width, which is 1-3/16 in. Two rows of balls run on offset raceways inside a single pair of rings, so the converging load lines let one bearing carry radial load, thrust in both axial directions and moment load from a tilting shaft.
MRC numbered its double-row angular contact family 52xx, where 52 is the series and 09 is the bore code, giving 45 mm. The same boundary dimensions are catalogued elsewhere as ISO 3209, which is why both numbers travel with this bearing. The CF and H501 elements do not resolve to published MRC suffix meanings and are carried here as searchable designations rather than as specifications.
A double-row angular contact bearing performs in one unit what a back-to-back pair of single-row angular contacts performs in two: it takes reversing thrust and it is stiff against shaft tilt. Its 30.16 mm width, against the 19 mm of a single-row 7209, is where that comes from. Both rows being ground into one set of rings, the internal preload relationship is fixed at manufacture, so there are no matched faces to butt and no shim stack to set.
1 Pc. Bearing only, open. No spacers, locknuts, lockwashers or shaft and housing hardware.
Because the bearing takes thrust in both directions it is mounted as the locating bearing in a shaft system, with the second position free to float axially. Press force is applied to the ring being fitted — inner ring onto the shaft, outer ring into the housing — so that no mounting load crosses the ball rows.
5209CF, 5209 CF and MRC 5209 are the same designation written three ways, and 3209 is the ISO number for the same 45 x 85 x 30.16 mm double-row angular contact envelope. Same-envelope equivalents in other schemes are SKF 3209 A, FAG 3209-B-TVH, NSK 3209B and Nachi 5209. A single-row 7209 is a related size and not a substitution: it is 19 mm wide, takes thrust in one direction only, and gives no moment resistance on its own.
