Quantity and configuration

Sold as 1 Pc, a single universally ground bearing. A second bearing is required to form a preloaded pair and is not included. No spacers, lock nut, shims or seals are included.

Fitting notes

The bearing is directional: the wide outer ring land takes the thrust. In a back-to-back set the two wide lands face outward; in face-to-face they face each other; in tandem both face the same way. Because the faces are ground for preload, the inner rings are clamped solidly against each other or against ground spacers, and no shimming is used to adjust preload. Cleanliness governs the result on a P4 bearing, so mounting is done with clean tools, force applied only to the ring being fitted, and the phenolic cage kept clear of any press load. Oil-air or a light grease charge suits the phenolic cage.

Interchange guidance

An interchange must match envelope, contact angle, tolerance class and preload class: a 15°, P4, light-preload universally ground 7006 in the 30 x 55 x 13 mm envelope, such as SKF 7006 CD/P4A, NSK 7006C-TYNSULP4, or Timken/Fafnir 2MM9106WI-CR-SUL. A 25° version (FAG B7006-E, NSK 7006A5, Fafnir 3MM9106WI) shares the envelope but has a different stiffness and speed behaviour, so it is a related size rather than an equivalent. Medium and heavy preload versions (UM, UH) are likewise different parts, and a standard-precision 7006 in P0 tolerance is not a spindle bearing substitute.
