A FAG 22219-ES-TVPB double-row spherical roller bearing, 95 mm bore, 170 mm outside diameter, 43 mm width. Straight cylindrical bore, open on both faces, glass-fibre reinforced polyamide cage. Two rows of barrel-profile rollers run on a single spherical raceway ground into the outer ring, so the inner ring and roller set swivel bodily inside the outer ring and the bearing accommodates shaft misalignment and housing deflection on its own.

Decoding the designation

222 is the ISO dimension series and 19 the bore code, giving a 95 mm bore. E marks the reinforced execution, with a larger roller complement and higher load ratings than the original design of the same envelope. S is the FAG lubrication feature: a circumferential groove in the outer ring with radial feed holes into the raceway, the same arrangement other makers code as W33. TVPB is the glass-fibre reinforced polyamide cage. No clearance suffix appears, so the bearing is normal clearance, CN.

What these specs mean in practice

Double-row spherical roller bearings carry the highest radial load of any rolling bearing family for a given envelope, and they take axial load in both directions. Self-alignment covers a degree or two of static misalignment, which is what makes them the standard choice for long shafts, fabricated frames and plummer block pairs. The lubrication groove and holes let grease reach the centre of the outer raceway and feed both roller rows equally instead of forcing lubricant in past one row from the side.

Cage material and temperature

The TVPB cage is glass-fibre reinforced polyamide, and its continuous service ceiling is 120 °C. Polyamide is lighter than brass and quieter under vibration, and it tolerates momentary shock and lubricant starvation better than pressed steel. Above 120 °C, or in the presence of aged oil that attacks polyamide, the machined brass E1A execution of the same envelope is the alternative.

Fitting notes

The straight bore mounts on an interference-fit shaft seat, with the outer ring in the housing bore and the lubrication groove aligned to the housing grease port. On a two-bearing shaft, one position is axially located and the other left free to expand, since a spherical roller bearing accommodates misalignment but not thermal growth along the shaft. Even seating force on the correct ring keeps the roller path clean; a spherical roller bearing must never be mounted by driving on the outer ring to seat the inner.

Interchange guidance

SKF 22219 E, NSK 22219EAE4 and Timken 22219EJW33 are the same 95x170x43 mm reinforced envelope with the same outer-ring lubrication feature, the NSK E4 and Timken W33 codes matching the FAG S. Cage material differs between these and changes the temperature ceiling rather than the fit. A 22219 with a K carries a 1:12 tapered bore and needs an adapter sleeve, and a 22219 in the 22300 series is a wider, heavier cross-section, so both are related sizes rather than interchanges.
