1 in stock

M30 x 1.5 capacitive proximity sensor in a metal barrel with 0 to 25 mm adjustable sensing distance and a genuine 1 A 220 V changeover relay output — a volt-free NO/NC contact rather than a transistor, so it switches AC or DC loads directly with no interface relay. Fully programmable for instantaneous or delayed action on energisation or de-energisation, with the contact set normally open or normally closed. Detects plastics, glass, wood, powders and liquids as well as metal. Cable version. One piece.

Product Description

What this part is

This is an M30 x 1.5 barrel-style capacitive proximity sensor with a metal housing, an adjustable sensing distance of 0 to 25 mm, and a programmable relay output. Being capacitive rather than inductive, it detects far more than metal: plastics, glass, wood, cardboard, powders, granulates and liquids all register, which is why capacitive sensors are the standard choice for level control in hoppers, silos and tanks, and for presence detection on non-metallic product.

The output is a relay, not a transistor — this is the reason to buy it:
Most proximity sensors give you a PNP or NPN transistor output: low current, DC only, polarity-dependent, and needing an interface relay if you want to switch anything real. This sensor contains an actual 1 A, 220 V changeover relay. The output is a volt-free NO/NC contact.

In practice that means you can switch a contactor coil, a solenoid valve, a lamp, an alarm or a pump starter directly from the sensor, on AC or DC, with no interposing relay and no worry about sourcing versus sinking conventions. On a level-control application — the job this sensor is most often bought for — that frequently reduces the panel to the sensor and the load. It also means the sensor drops into old electromechanical control schemes that have no PLC input card at all.

The trade-off is honest and worth stating: a relay has a finite mechanical life and a maximum switching frequency far below a solid-state output, so this is not the sensor for high-speed counting on a production line. It is the sensor for level, presence and interlock duties where the switching is occasional and the load is real.

Decoding the order code

SC – Aeco capacitive sensor30 – M30 x 1.5 barrel diameterM – metal housing. This is the distinguishing letter and it matters: the SC30SP and SC30P variants of the same sensing family are plastic-bodied, with different mechanical and chemical resistance. Do not read plastic-housing data onto this part.AE25 – adjustable sensing distance, 0 to 25 mm. The A20 variant is the 20 mm version. The C-series equivalents (SC30M-CE25 NPN or PNP) are the DC transistor-output sensors — same body, completely different output stage.NO/NC – changeover contact, programmable as normally open or normally closedK – cable version (as opposed to a connector version)
The Aeco stock code for this exact configuration is CAP000023. Also written SC30MAE25NONCK, SC30M-AE25-NO/NC-K, SC30M AE25 NO/NC K and SC30M-AE25 NO/NCK.

Understanding the delay functions

The four programmable modes are more useful than they first look, and they are the reason one part number covers so many applications:

TE NO – contact open with no material present. Material enters the sensing zone, the set delay runs, then the contact closes. Material leaves and the contact opens instantly. Use this to ignore brief or intermittent presence — splashing liquid, tumbling product, a passing gap — and only act on sustained presence.TE NC – contact closed with no material. Material enters and the contact opens immediately; material leaves and the delay runs before the contact closes again.TD NO – contact closes the instant material arrives; when material leaves, the delay runs before the contact opens. This is the classic hold-on function for keeping a pump or conveyor running briefly after product clears.TD NC – contact closed with no material; material arrives and the delay runs before the contact opens; material leaves and the contact closes instantly.
Choosing the right mode often removes a timer relay from the panel entirely.

What is not included

Sensor only, one piece, with its integral cable. Not supplied: the SCM-R POM protection housing (a separate accessory, and the thing to specify if the sensor will sit in an abrasive material stream or needs to be swappable without breaking into the process), mounting nuts and locknuts beyond whatever is fitted, brackets, cable glands, junction boxes, cable extension, power supply or any interface relay. Check the photographs for exactly what hardware is on the sensor as supplied.

Installation and setup notes

Set the sensing distance to the job rather than to maximum. A capacitive sensor turned up to 25 mm sees through thin tank walls, sees the mounting bracket, and sees condensation and product build-up on the face — nuisance switching on a capacitive level sensor is almost always excessive gain rather than a fault. Wind the sensitivity back to the minimum that gives reliable detection with a comfortable margin.

Capacitive sensors respond to the dielectric constant of the target, so sensing range varies substantially with the material: water and wet product give strong signals, dry plastics and low-density powders much weaker ones. Commission against the actual material, at the actual moisture content, not against your hand.

Mount clear of surrounding metalwork where you can — the adjustable range assumes the sensing face has a reasonably clear view. In tank and hopper service, mount so material does not bridge and cake on the face, and consider the SCM-R housing where abrasion is a factor.

Interchange guidance

Search forms include SC30M-AE25 NO/NC K, SC30MAE25NONCK, SC30M-AE25-NO/NC-K, SC30M AE25 NO/NC K, SC30M-AE25 NO/NCK and the Aeco stock code CAP000023. Related sensors in the same Aeco family are not interchangeable: SC30M-A20 NO/NC K is the 20 mm version; SC30M-CE25 NPN and PNP are DC transistor outputs, not relay; SC30SP-AE25 and SC30P-AE25 are plastic-housed; SC30SM-AE25 is a different body form. Any of those will fit an M30 x 1.5 hole and then behave differently, which is exactly the wrong-part order to avoid. Aeco is an Italian sensor manufacturer (Inzago, Milan) and this family remains a current catalogue range, so a like-for-like replacement is available new if you need to match an existing installation.
