A Pilz PZE 5, part number 474915 — a contact expansion module from the PNOZ X safety relay family, in the 110 V AC version with a 4 N/O plus 1 N/C contact set. Its job is to multiply the number of safety contacts available from a base safety relay: the base unit does the dual-channel monitoring and the PZE follows its enable output, providing four extra positively-driven normally-open safety contacts and one normally-closed auxiliary contact.
A PZE is an expander, not a standalone safety relay. It has no dual-channel input monitoring, no start circuit and no cross-fault detection of its own, so it cannot be used by itself to monitor an emergency stop, a guard door or a light curtain. It must be driven from the enable output of a PNOZ base unit.

Two things decide whether this module fits your panel. The first is the 110 V AC supply — the same PZE 5 exists at 24 V DC (474910) and other voltages, and they are not interchangeable. The second is that the extra contacts are only as safe as the base unit driving them: the achievable performance level is set by the whole chain, so the base relay, the wiring and the feedback loop all have to be right. Wire the expander’s feedback contact into the base unit’s reset loop, or a welded contact will go undetected.
Confirm the base unit’s enable output is rated to drive the PZE coil at 110 V AC. Include the N/C auxiliary contact in the base unit’s feedback (reset) circuit so contact welding is monitored, and observe the base unit’s limit on how many expanders may be connected. Fit in a cabinet — these are open DIN-rail devices.
Module only. No PNOZ base safety relay, no DIN rail, no terminal jumpers or wiring links, no connectors or plug-in terminal blocks beyond those fitted, no emergency stop, guard switch or light curtain, and no documentation.
Sold as one module.
PZE 5, PZE5 and part number 474915 are the same module at 110 V AC. PZE 5 474910 is the 24 V DC version and is not a substitute. PZE 9 (for example 774150, 8 N/O 1 N/C) is a larger expander with a different contact count and is a related product, not an equivalent. Any PNOZ base unit is a different class of device entirely — do not substitute an expander for a base relay.
