The GS3-43P0 is a general-purpose AC variable frequency drive from the DURApulse GS3 family, rated 3 HP on a 460 VAC three-phase supply. It runs in either sensorless vector control (SVC) with autotune, or conventional V/Hz mode, and carries a built-in RS-485 Modbus RTU port, an integral keypad with digital display, and integrated dynamic braking. Published SCCR is 5 kA.
In the GS3 scheme the first digit after the dash is the voltage class and the remainder is horsepower: 4 = 460 VAC, 3P0 = 3.0 HP. So GS3-43P0 is the 3 HP 460 V unit; GS3-41P0 is 1 HP and GS3-45P0 is 5 HP at the same voltage. The unit’s own front label reads 3.0HP 460V 3PH.
Sensorless vector vs V/Hz — what you gain and give up:
SVC estimates rotor flux from current and voltage rather than reading a shaft sensor, so it holds far better low-speed torque and speed regulation than V/Hz without the cost of an encoder. What it will not do is hold torque at zero speed or give true closed-loop positioning; for that you need the GS3’s optional encoder feedback card or a servo. If the drive is running several motors in parallel, or a load where an autotune cannot be performed, V/Hz is the correct mode.
This is a 460 V class drive with a three-phase input — it is not a single-phase-in unit and will not accept 230 V. Dynamic braking is integrated in the sense that the braking transistor is on board; the braking resistor is a separate external item sized to your duty cycle and is not supplied here. Parameters in a used drive reflect the previous machine, so plan on a factory reset and a full re-parameterisation before commissioning.
Supplied as the bare drive only — one unit, no braking resistor, no line reactor, no filter, no communication cable and no configuration software. The photographs show the integral keypad (PROGRAM, DISPLAY, JOG, RUN, STOP/RESET, ENTER, FWD/REV with RUN/STOP/JOG/FWD/REV indicators), the cooling fan and three conduit knockouts in the base. Cosmetic soiling consistent with panel service is visible.
The GS3 range has been retired by AutomationDirect and superseded by the GS23 (general purpose) and GS4 (high performance) families; GS23-43P0 and GS4-43P0 are the current 3 HP 460 V equivalents, but terminal layout, parameter numbering and keypad differ, so a GS3 is not a drop-in swap for a GS4 without re-engineering the panel. Also written GS343P0 and GS3 43P0.
Source-data note: the brand on this record previously read Reliance Electric. GS3-43P0 is AutomationDirect’s own catalogue number and the unit is physically branded DURApulse / AUTOMATION DIRECT, so the brand has been corrected. The previous copy also stated a 480 V input and Chinese manufacture; the nameplate reads 460 V, and country of manufacture is not verifiable from this record, so it has been removed rather than repeated.
