Product Description

The EA5R300PUXMODQ is the receiver half of a Banner A-GAGE EZ-ARRAY two-piece measuring array: 300 mm array length, 5 mm beam spacing, 60 beams. Banner’s own part number is 77538. Banner’s catalogue description reads: “EZ-ARRAY Receiver: 300 mm (11.8 in), Range: (matching emitter sold separately) 400 mm – 4 m; Input: 12-30 V dc, Outputs: 2 Solid-State PNP 2 Analog 0-10 V EIA-485, 8-pin M12 Integral QD”.

This is a measuring array, not a safety light curtain:
The EZ-ARRAY is an inspection and measurement product. It has no AOPD Type rating and no OSSD safety outputs, and must not be used to guard a hazard or form part of a machine safety function. If you need machine guarding, buy a rated safety light curtain instead.

The receiver is where all the intelligence lives

The emitter simply fires 60 beams; this receiver decides what they mean and is the part you configure. It gives you three output paths at once, which is why this variant costs more than a plain discrete-output receiver:

Two solid-state PNP discrete outputs — for simple pass/fail, part-present or limit alarms straight into a PLC input card. Two analog 0–10 V outputs — continuous measurement of height, edge position or diameter, so you can close a loop on a web guide or dancer without any digital comms.Modbus RTU over EIA-485 (RS-485) — full access to the measurement data, blocked/clear beam maps and configuration over a two-wire bus, and the way you read multiple scanned values that will not fit down two analog channels.

Suffix decode

EA5 = EZ-ARRAY, 5 mm beam spacing · R = receiver (E = emitter) · 300 = 300 mm array length · PU = PNP discrete outputs · X = dual analog voltage output (0–10 V) · MOD = Modbus RTU / EIA-485 serial · Q = integral M12 quick-disconnect, 8-pin on this receiver. The 8-pin QD is the practical detail to check: an 8-conductor M12 cordset is needed to land two discrete outputs, two analog outputs, the 485 pair and power, and a common 4- or 5-pin cordset will not do it.

Measurement resolution and range

Beam spacing 5 mm; Banner rates minimum object sensitivity at 5–10 mm, the spread reflecting where a small object falls between adjacent beams. Optical range is 400 mm to 4 m to the matching emitter — note the 400 mm minimum, which rules out very narrow machine frames. Supply 12–30 V DC. Aluminium housing 379 mm long for a 300 mm sensing field. Rated −40 °C to +70 °C, 95% RH maximum.

You need the matching emitter

A receiver alone cannot measure anything. It requires a 300 mm, 5 mm-spacing EZ-ARRAY emitter. Central Surplus also stocks that emitter — Banner EA5E300Q, part 75424 — same array length and spacing. Buying both gives you a complete, correctly matched measuring system from one source, which is the hard part when sourcing EZ-ARRAY halves on the surplus market.

What is in the box

The photographs show the receiver out of its carton with the original Banner box labelled with the model and part number, plus the A-GAGE EZ-ARRAY QuickStart Guide, a Banner software CD, mounting brackets and hardware, and two small sealed accessory bags. That is a materially complete kit — surplus arrays usually arrive as a bare stick with no brackets or literature.

Approvals and status

UL (US/Canada), CE and UKCA marked. Banner lists item status as RELEASED, so it is still a current catalogue part with live documentation and available mating hardware. No DeviceNet and no IO-Link on this variant — Modbus RTU / EIA-485 only.

Interchange and searching

Also written EA5R300PUXMODQ, EA5R-300-PUXMODQ and by Banner part number 77538. Commonly searched as “EZ Array receiver”, “A-GAGE measuring light curtain” and “Banner measuring light screen Modbus”.
