Mechanical read-out

Digital here means discrete numerals rather than a needle on a dial. The numerals are printed on physical roller wheels turned by a gear train. The indicator runs entirely on shaft motion, so the reading stands where the shaft left it with the machine switched off. Maximum shaft speed depends on the indication per revolution. 10 mm per revolution: 500 rpm continuous, 1500 rpm short-period. 15 mm: 500 rpm continuous, 1000 rpm short-period. 20 mm: 500 rpm continuous, 750 rpm short-period. 25 mm: 500 rpm continuous, 600 rpm short-period. 30 mm: 500 rpm. 40 mm: 375 rpm. 50 mm: 300 rpm. 60 mm: 250 rpm. 80 mm: 180 rpm. 100 mm: 150 rpm. Speeds above 500 rpm are rated for short periods only. These indicators are built for hand-turned and slow-adjustment duty.

Installation notes

The indicator body is restrained against rotation by a clamping plate or an equivalent feature on the machine, so the housing stays still and the counter advances with the shaft. Mounting position is set by the configuration code, so the window orientation follows the code the unit was built to. Zero is set at a known machine datum. Counting direction is fixed by the configuration: i counts up clockwise, e counts up anticlockwise.
