Eight-channel analog input module for GE Series Six PLCs. Input range 0 to 10 V DC unipolar, 12-bit resolution, optically isolated, with over- and under-range detection. Input only — no outputs. Takes one I/O slot in a Series Six I/O rack, Model 60 CPU rack or Series Six Plus CPU rack. Note the range: the bipolar version is IC600BF842 and the 4-20 mA version is IC600BF843. Board and faceplate; no field wiring. Sold as 1 piece.

GE Fanuc IC600BF841K, the 0 to 10 V DC Analog Input Module for the Series Six programmable controller. It is an input-only board: it takes eight analog voltage signals from field devices — transducers, transmitters, potentiometers, tachometer conditioners — converts each to a 12-bit digital value, and presents them to the PLC’s Input Status Table. It does not drive any outputs.
IC600 – GE Fanuc Series Six / Series Six Plus familyBF – supplied as circuit board and faceplate together (a YB prefix on this platform is the bare board without faceplate)841 – 8-channel analog input, 0 to 10 V DC unipolar rangeTrailing letter K – hardware revision level, not a range or channel-count change
The range is the part of the number that matters most, because the three siblings look identical and are not interchangeable: IC600BF841 is 0 to 10 V DC, IC600BF842 is bipolar −10 to +10 V DC, and IC600BF843 is 4–20 mA current input. All three are 8-channel. Fitting an 841 where the machine expects an 842 loses the entire negative half of the signal; fitting it where a 843 is expected will not read a current loop at all.
Function: analog input, input onlyChannels: 8Input range: 0 to 10 V DC (unipolar)Resolution: 12 bitSignal type: analog voltageChannel access: sequential and repetitiveProtection: over-range and under-range detectionOn-board circuitry: address decoder, data bus driver, optical isolator, analog multiplexer, A/D converterAddressing: reserves a group of 32 consecutive bits in the CPU Input Status TableRack space: one I/O slotSupported racks: Series Six I/O rack, Model 60 CPU rack, or Series Six Plus CPU rack
12-bit resolution across a 0–10 V span works out to roughly 2.4 mV per count, which is finer than most 1980s-vintage field transmitters can actually deliver — in practice sensor drift and wiring noise, not the card, set your accuracy. Because the range is unipolar, a signal that can legitimately go negative (a bidirectional velocity or load-cell output, for instance) needs the BF842 instead; this board will simply clamp at zero.
The optical isolator between field wiring and the backplane is what lets you run signal pairs back from a machine several metres away without dragging its ground reference into the PLC rack. It is worth preserving that isolation with proper shield practice, which on this module means a specific wiring habit: on every channel you are not using, tie both the Input (IN) terminal and the Return terminal to the shield terminal. Leaving spare channels floating is a common cause of unstable readings on adjacent channels, because the multiplexer sees an undriven input.
Channel access is sequential and repetitive rather than simultaneous-sample, so all eight channels are not captured at the same instant. For slow process variables — temperature, pressure, level, flow — this is irrelevant. For anything where inter-channel phase matters, account for the scan.
Circuit board with faceplate, as pictured. This listing does not include a rack, backplane or rack power supply; a CPU, memory module or control modules; field wiring, shielded signal cable or a terminal board; transducers or transmitters; an extraction/insertion tool; or documentation. The faceplate carries the field terminals, so no separate terminal block is required, but all field wiring is made by the installer.
Set the DIP switches on the rack backplane immediately behind the intended card slot before inserting the board — they reserve the 32-bit group in the Input Status Table that this module will occupy, and getting them wrong is the usual reason a freshly fitted analog card reads nothing. Use the extraction/insertion tool furnished with the CPU to fit or remove the circuit board. With the board seated, slip the faceplate’s edge connector over the circuit board so proper contact is made, then secure the faceplate to the rack with the thumbscrews top and bottom. Tie off unused channels to shield as described above. Handle as static-sensitive.
IC600BF841 interchanges across its own revision letters, so IC600BF841A through IC600BF841Z (including this K) are the same catalogue item. IC600BF842 and IC600BF843 are different parts, not equivalents — different input ranges, as set out above; they belong in the related-parts list, not the cross-reference list. Also searched as IC600-BF841K, IC600 BF 841, BF841, and GE Series 6 analog input card. Related Series Six items sold separately include the IC600LX624 combined memory module, IC600BF942 and IC600BF943 analog output modules, and IC600YB discrete I/O boards.
