A Fanuc A06B-6096-H104 Servo Amplifier Module — the single-axis Alpha series SVM, model designation SVM1-40L. It is a closed-loop AC servo amplifier, not a variable frequency drive: torque, velocity and position are all closed against a Fanuc serial pulse coder on the motor, with the command arriving from the CNC axis card over the Fanuc serial servo bus. It will not run a plain induction motor.
A06B — Fanuc servo amplifier and motor product class6096 — Alpha series SVM (Servo Amplifier Module) familyH104 — specification suffix: single axis, 40 A class output stage on the L axis, i.e. SVM1-40LL — the axis designation within the module (L axis; multi-axis SVMs add M and N axes)
Type: Alpha series Servo Amplifier Module, single axis (SVM1-40L)Input: DC link 283–325 V DC from a Fanuc Alpha Power Supply Module (PSM) — no mains terminals on this moduleRated input capacity: approx. 3.75 kWOutput: three-phase PWM to one Fanuc Alpha AC servo motor, 230 V AC class maximumRated output current: 12.5 A (40 A class peak)Feedback: Fanuc serial pulse coder (Alpha A/B/C), JF connectorTypical motor pairing: Alpha 12/2000 (40L class) and equivalent dutyCNC compatibility: Fanuc 15i, 16i, 18i, 20i, 21i and above with an Alpha PSM busCooling: forced air, internal fanShipping weight: approx. 10 lbOrigin: Japan (Fanuc nameplate)
Size the amplifier to the motor, not to the machine. 12.5 A rated / 40 A class suits mid-size axis motors around the Alpha 12/2000 point. Substituting the smaller SVM1-20 (A06B-6096-H102) for this module will alarm on overcurrent during rapid acceleration; substituting a larger module reduces the protection the amplifier gives the motor unless the CNC current-limit parameters are set to match. Because there is no rectifier inside, the module is useless without a PSM sharing its DC bus.
The DC bus bars must be re-linked to the adjacent modules, and the CNC servo parameters for amplifier type and motor ID must be confirmed against the module actually fitted. The Alpha SVM holds no user-loadable firmware — servo software resides in the CNC.
Amplifier module only. No Power Supply Module, spindle module, DC bus bars or link plates, JF/JV/JX signal cables, motor power cable, connector kit, fuses, dynamic-brake unit, regenerative resistor, battery, manuals or software.
Sold as one single-axis amplifier module. One axis of amplification is required per servo motor.
A06B-6096-H104, A06B6096H104 and A06B 6096 H104 are the same part. Fanuc and GE Fanuc branded units of this number are the same module. The #HR and similar trailing suffixes denote factory-rebuilt stock of the same specification. Other H-suffixes in the 6096 family are different current classes or axis counts and are not drop-in equivalents; H102 is the 20 A SVM1-20. Do not cross between Alpha, Alpha i (A06B-6114/6117) or Beta (A06B-6093) generations — bus voltage, connectors and servo protocol differ.
