Motor Starters vs. Contactors vs. Overload Relays: What Each One Does and Why You Need All Three

Bearing housing seal with a 65 mm inner diameter, sized for a 213-size split plummer block housing. The 65 mm bore matches a 213-series cylindrical-bore bearing mounted direct on a 65 mm shaft. Supplied as one lot of seven seals. Functional analogue of the TSN 213 housing seal; split-housing seal grooves are dimensionally similar between makes but interchange is not manufacturer-certified, so verify against your housing. Material, lip count and dimensions beyond the 65 mm bore are not published.

This is a bearing housing seal with a published inner diameter of 65 mm, catalogued as a bearing housing accessory. It is the ring-shaped seal that fits into the seal bore at each end of a split plummer block housing, closing the gap between the housing and the rotating shaft so grease stays in and dirt and water stay out. It is not a bearing, and it is not a heavy-equipment oil seal of the type used on hydraulic cylinders or axles.
Three things in the previous version of this listing were wrong, and they are worth stating plainly because each one could have caused a bad order.
First, the brand. The record listed this as SKF and the description said “the brand being SKF.” The EAN on this part is 3413520644246, and that is an NTN-SNR prefix — confirmed by an exact EAN match on European distributor listings, where the part is catalogued as an NTN-SNR bearing housing accessory. SKF EANs on this size range begin 7316570. The manufacturer’s own numbering and barcode make an SKF origin impossible. The title already read NTN, so the title and the barcode agreed with each other and only the brand field was wrong. The brand has been corrected to NTN-SNR.
Second, the product class. The previous description discussed “oil seals for heavy equipment” and the “protection for the equipment’s various parts and systems.” That is generic filler written about a different category of product. This is a bearing housing seal for a split pedestal housing. That text has been removed rather than edited, because none of it applied.
Third, the quantity presentation. The old description described a set of seven seals while the inventory record showed a quantity of one. Both are reconcilable and neither was wrong — see the quantity section below.
This is one lot of seven seals. One saleable unit, seven pieces inside it. You are not buying a single seal, and you are not buying seven separately stocked units. If you need seals for a single housing you need two — one at each end — so a lot of seven covers three housings with one spare.
The seal inner diameter has to match the shaft it runs on, not the bearing bore or the housing seating diameter. A 65 mm inner diameter lines up with a 213-series bearing of cylindrical bore mounted directly on a 65 mm shaft. That is the significant detail, because the same 213-size housing can also be built with a tapered-bore bearing on an adapter sleeve, and that arrangement puts a 60 mm shaft through the housing instead. A seal sized for 65 mm will not seal a 60 mm shaft — there would be a 2.5 mm radial gap all the way round, and the housing would leak grease and admit contamination immediately.
So before ordering, establish which shaft diameter your housing is actually built around. Pull the old seal and measure its bore, or measure the shaft at the seal position. Do not infer it from the housing designation, because the housing designation does not determine shaft size.
SC 213 DS is the functional analogue of the TSN 213 seal — both are 65 mm inner diameter seals for a 213-size split plummer block housing, performing the same job in the same position. That makes it the natural search term if you have been quoted a TSN 213 and are looking at alternatives.
Whether it physically fits an SKF SNL 213 housing is a different question, and the honest answer is that it is not manufacturer-confirmed. Split-housing seal grooves from different manufacturers are dimensionally similar, because they are all built around the same bearing sizes, but similar is not the same as certified interchangeable. Groove width, groove depth and the outside diameter of the seal ring can differ by enough to matter, and no manufacturer publishes a cross-certification between these two. Treat it as follows: SNR housing seal, 65 mm inner diameter, SKF equivalent is TSN 213, fitment to SKF housings is not manufacturer-confirmed. If you are sealing an SKF housing and cannot afford a trial fit, buy the SKF seal.
Manufacturer: NTN-SNR (SNR brand)Product class: bearing housing seal / bearing housing accessoryInner diameter: 65 mmEAN: 3413520644246Quantity: one lot of seven piecesMaterial: not publishedLip count and lip configuration: not publishedOutside diameter, width and groove dimensions: not published
We are listing the gaps deliberately rather than filling them with plausible figures. NTN-SNR does not publish material, lip count or dimensions beyond the 65 mm bore for this reference in any source we can verify, and on a sealing component those are exactly the numbers you cannot guess at. If your application depends on the elastomer specification — a high temperature, a chemical exposure, a food-contact requirement — contact us before ordering and we will physically inspect the parts on hand.
Housing seals fail quietly and take the bearing with them. A split pedestal block on a conveyor or fan shaft carries its grease in the housing cavity; the seals at each end are the only thing keeping that grease in place and keeping abrasive dust, washdown water and process material out. Once a seal is worn or wrongly sized, grease escapes, contamination enters, and the bearing fails from abrasive wear months before its fatigue life would have ended. Replacing seals at every bearing service is routine practice for that reason, and it is why seals are stocked in multiples rather than bought one at a time.
Central Surplus also has an SKF SNL 213 split plummer block housing in stock, SKU B-BF5COM#NPZN7N, which is the 213-size housing these seals are dimensioned for. Note the caveat above: the SNR seal and the SKF housing are functionally matched at 65 mm but are not certified interchangeable by either manufacturer, so if you are buying both together, tell us and we will check the fit on the actual parts before shipping.
Search forms that reach this part include SC 213 DS, SC213DS, SC.213.DS, SNRSC213 and SC213SNR. The functional SKF equivalent is TSN 213 A, or TSN 213 generally, with fitment unconfirmed as described. SNR bearing operations are part of NTN-SNR, so SNR is the legacy brand name on current NTN-SNR product.
