The FANUC A20B-0008-0243 is a spindle orientation printed circuit board used in FANUC AC spindle servo drive systems.
Boards of this vintage are no longer manufactured, so new old stock and tested-exchange units are the normal supply route for keeping legacy machine tools running. Made in Japan, new old stock.
Its job is spindle orientation control – bringing the spindle to a commanded angular stop position and holding it there, which is what allows automatic tool change, boring-bar indexing and keyed workholding to repeat accurately. The board processes spindle encoder feedback and stop-position signals within the drive unit rather than driving the motor itself.
It is documented against FANUC AC spindle drive units of the 6055 and 6059 series from the 1980s through the early 1990s, and this example carries drawing revision /0204A.
