A complete single-row tapered roller bearing set from Timken: the L305649-3 cone (inner ring with rollers and cage) together with its matching L305610-3 cup (outer race). Bore is 2 inches, cup outside diameter 3-3/16 inches. The -3 suffix on both halves is Timken Class 3 precision, a tighter tolerance grade than standard. Sets in this size are used in gearboxes, spindles, wheel and hub positions, pump and pinion shafts — anywhere a bearing must take a heavy radial load together with thrust in one direction.
L305649 — the cone (inner ring, rollers and cage)L305610 — the cup (outer race) designed to run with that cone-3 — Timken Class 3 precision on each part; also written *3 or #3
Both halves. This is the cone and the cup together as a matched set, which is what makes it a usable bearing rather than a component. Many tapered roller listings are one half only; this one is not.
Cone and cup are designed as a pair — the pairing sets the contact angle, the load ratings and the internal setting, so a cone run against a cup it was not designed for will fit but will not make its rated life. Class 3 precision tightens bore, OD and running accuracy beyond standard class, which matters where the bearing has to hold a shaft position accurately or run smoothly at speed; it does not change the mounting dimensions, so a Class 3 set drops into a standard housing. A single-row tapered roller bearing takes thrust in one direction only, so shafts normally use two opposed, which is also what allows the assembly to be set to a specified end play or preload.

One complete set — one cone plus one cup. If the shaft uses two opposed bearings, order a set for each position.
Keep the cone and cup together; they are a matched pair and should not be split across two positions. Press or heat the cone onto the shaft and press the cup squarely into the housing — never drive mounting force through the rollers, and never use the cup to press the cone. Tapered roller bearings have no built-in internal clearance: end play or preload must be established at assembly to the machine builder’s figure using shims, a spacer or the adjusting nut. Because this is a Class 3 set, take the trouble to check the shaft and housing seats; the extra accuracy is wasted on worn seats.
The set is referenced as L305649/L305610, L305649-L305610 and L305649/10, with the -3 suffix denoting Class 3. Related but NOT interchangeable: the standard-class L305649/L305610 without the -3 is a looser tolerance grade, and a cone or a cup on its own is a component rather than a bearing. Timken part numbers carrying a -90xxx suffix are complete factory assemblies, which is a third distinct category.
