A double-row spherical roller bearing in the ISO 222 series, 120 mm bore by 215 mm outside diameter by 58 mm wide, straight cylindrical bore, with the W33 relubrication feature machined into the outer ring. Two rows of barrel rollers share a spherical outer raceway, so the bearing takes heavy radial and bidirectional axial load while accommodating misalignment between shaft and housing.
222 — double-row spherical roller bearing, dimension series 22
24 — bore code, 120 mm
No K — straight cylindrical bore; fits a plain shaft with no adapter sleeve
W33 — an annular lubrication groove around the outer ring with three radial feed holes into the roller path
J — a cage-execution letter on the alternate number. It is carried here as a search term rather than decoded, because cage letters are not consistent between makers and reading one from convention alone is how wrong cage material ends up on a datasheet
The record claimed Italian manufacture. RHP is a British marque and no origin marking is documented on the item, so no country of origin is claimed here. The entire description was eBay boilerplate — dead store link, shipping promises, we-buy-bearings copy — with no product information in it, and has been replaced.
W33 is the difference between a bearing you replace and a bearing you maintain. The groove and holes let grease injected at the housing reach the rollers directly instead of piling up against the outer ring face, so a scheduled relubrication actually refreshes the film where the load is. It only works if the housing has a matching feed passage lined up with the groove — in a plain housing with no lubrication port, a W33 bearing simply runs as an ordinary one and you have paid for a feature you cannot use. Conversely, if your housing is drilled for through-lubrication and you fit a non-W33 bearing, the grease has nowhere to go.
Spherical rollers go where the duty is heavy, dirty and imperfectly aligned: conveyor pulleys, crushers, screens, fans, paper machinery, gearbox shafts. Their self-aligning geometry absorbs shaft deflection and out-of-line housings that would edge-load a cylindrical roller bearing. Internal clearance is not stated on this designation, so it should be read as Normal unless a C3 or C4 marking appears on the bearing — worth confirming, because clearance class is a design specification and not interchangeable.
Boundary dimensions 120 x 215 x 58 mm are the ISO 22224 envelope and are confirmed. Basic dynamic rating, basic static rating and limiting speed are left blank: figures published for other makers’ 22224 designs reflect different internal geometry, roller counts and cages, and no RHP-published value for this execution could be verified. A borrowed rating is not a rating.
Same-envelope W33 spherical rollers include SKF 22224 E/W33, FAG 22224-E1-XL-K-W33 (note the K — tapered bore, not a plain-shaft substitute), Timken 22224EJW33 and NTN 22224W33. RHP roller bearing numbers now route through NSK. Non-W33 versions of the same envelope will fit the housing bore but lose the relubrication path.
