What this part is

A double row spherical roller bearing in the FAG 213xx narrow dimension series, 75 mm bore, 160 mm outside diameter, 37 mm width, with a 1:12 tapered bore and a glass-fibre reinforced polyamide cage. Two rows of barrel-profile rollers run in a common hollow-ground spherical outer raceway, so the bearing self-aligns about its own centre while carrying heavy radial load.

Decoding the designation

In the FAG scheme 213 is the narrow double row spherical roller dimension series and the last two digits are the ISO bore code multiplied by five — 15 reads 75 mm, measured at the small end of the taper. E is the reinforced design with an increased roller complement and load rating. K is the 1:12 tapered bore. TVPB is the glass-fibre reinforced polyamide cage. Absent a clearance suffix the bearing is normal, CN.

What these specs mean in practice

A double row spherical roller carries very high radial load and takes thrust in both directions, unlike the single row barrel roller of the 202xx and 203xx series. The spherical outer raceway accommodates static misalignment from housing bore error and dynamic misalignment from shaft deflection under load, which is why this family dominates heavy shaft positions in mills, crushers, fans, conveyors and paper machinery. The 213 series is the narrow section for a 75 mm bore, so it fits shallower housings than a 22315 at the same bore.

Taper bore and adapter sleeve

The 1:12 tapered bore mounts on an adapter sleeve rather than directly on a shaft seat. The matching sleeve is an FAG H2315, whose own bore seats a 65 mm shaft, one bore-code step below the bearing bore. Driving the bearing up the sleeve taper progressively reduces internal clearance, so the fit is set by measured clearance reduction rather than by an interference dimension on the shaft. The sleeve is a separate item and is supplied with its own KM locknut and MB tab washer.

Cage and temperature

A glass-fibre reinforced polyamide cage is light and low-friction and responds well to rapid speed change, with a continuous ceiling of approximately 120 °C. A machined brass equivalent — the 21315E.K.M variant — runs to higher temperatures and absorbs more shock, at a different speed rating.

Quantity and configuration

1 Pc. Bearing only. Supplied without the H2315 adapter sleeve, locknut and tab washer. Open on both faces, with no seals, and no W33 lubrication groove or holes in the outer ring.

Interchange guidance

Other makers’ 21315EK spherical roller bearings at the same cage class are the interchange; SKF and NSK write the same bearing 21315EK. A 21315E with a straight bore shares the outside dimensions but mounts differently and is a related size, not a substitution. A 22315EK is the wide section at the same 75 mm bore, with a higher rating and a different housing envelope. A W33 variant adds an outer ring lubrication groove and three holes and is a different article number.
