A Dodge Tigear-2 right-angle worm gear speed reducer in the 2.00 in centre-distance frame, 15:1 nominal ratio, with a NEMA 56C quill input taking a 5/8 in motor shaft and a 1 in solid output shaft on the right-hand side. The worm set turns the drive through 90°, reduces speed and multiplies torque — the workhorse arrangement on conveyors, feeders, augers, mixers and packaging drives.
Tigear-2 numbers read as centre distance, input style, ratio, output shaft, motor frame:
20 — 2.00 in centre distance (gear case size and mounting footprint)Q — quill input: the motor shaft enters a hollow quill in the reducer, with no separate coupling15 — 15:1 nominal reductionR — solid output shaft on the right-hand side viewed from the input56 — NEMA 56C motor flange, 5/8 in motor shaft
Quill input is not the same as a C-face coupled input. The motor shaft becomes the worm input, so shaft diameter and length matter as much as the flange bolt pattern. There is no coupling to buy and none to wear out.
Centre distance, not ratio, sets the torque class. The 2.00 in frame is the small end of the Tigear-2 range; 2.3, 2.6 and 3.0 in frames are stronger and share no housing dimensions.
15:1 is a mid-range worm ratio and should not be assumed self-locking. For a suspended or gravity-driven load, use a brake motor or a separate brake.
R is the output hand. The L build is a mirror image, so check which side your driven shaft sits on.

One reducer. No motor is included — gearbox only. New old stock.
Measure the motor shaft diameter and usable length against the quill before fitting. Confirm the oil level suits your mounting position; a worm box filled for one orientation can starve in another. Run in under partial load before applying full torque, and inspect the output shaft key and seals before fitting a sprocket or coupling.
20Q15L56 is the opposite-hand output build. Other 20-series ratios share the housing and mounting but change output speed. A-code builds are C-face coupled rather than quill and do not interchange with a Q-code unit. Dodge Tigear-2 now ships under Regal Rexnord with unchanged numbering.
Maintenance is now 65% Slower, but it’s not a labor
