Manufacturer StatusCooper Split Roller Bearing is now part of SKF — current-production equivalents and full technical data are published under SKF's split-to-the-shaft roller bearing range.
Compatible With ReplacesFits a 2-7/16 in (61.9 mm) shaft. Normally paired on a shaft with an EX (expansion) unit; no drop-in solid-bearing equivalent exists — the split construction is the point. Current-production equivalents are catalogued under SKF split-to-the-shaft roller bearings.
Arrangement ConfigurationBCP = Bearing Complete Pillow block: split cartridge bearing plus split pillow block housing. Cooper housing prefixes: B = cartridge only, BCP = pillow block, BCF = flange, BCT = take-up, BCH = hanger.
Additional AttributesDynamic and static load ratings, maximum speed, bolt centres, base-to-shaft-centre height and overall dimensions are not published online for the Cooper 02 Series — they live in the printed Cooper/SKF catalogue. Deliberately left blank rather than borrowed from a neighbouring series.

Product Description

What this part is

A complete Cooper split roller bearing unit: a 100% split-to-the-shaft single-row cylindrical roller bearing — split inner ring, split outer ring, split cage — housed in a split cast iron pillow block (pedestal). Every component parts in half, which means the whole unit can be fitted, inspected or replaced on a shaft that is still in place, with no access to a shaft end and no need to pull couplings, sheaves or gearboxes.

That is the entire economic argument for Cooper bearings. The bearing costs several times what a solid equivalent costs, and it saves that many times over the first time you avoid a full driveline teardown on a conveyor head pulley, a fan shaft, a kiln or a marine line shaft.

Decoding the designation

02 — 02 Series: Cooper’s heavy-duty range, higher radial and axial capacity than the 01 SeriesBCP — Bearing Complete Pillow block: the full assembly of split cartridge bearing plus split pillow block housing207 — bore code; 07 in the inch series is 2-7/16 in (61.9 mm)GR — fixed (non-expansion) bearing. It locates the shaft axially. The counterpart code is EX for an expansion/free bearing

Correcting the source data

The previous listing described this as a flange mount bearing. It is not. BCP is Cooper’s code for a complete pillow block — a base-mounted pedestal that bolts down onto a horizontal surface with the shaft running above it. A Cooper flange unit in this size and series would be coded 02-BCF-207-GR. The housing style has been corrected throughout. Cooper’s own housing prefixes: B = cartridge bearing only with no housing, BCP = pillow block, BCF = flange, BCT = take-up, BCH = hanger.

Fixed versus expansion — get this right or the shaft fights you:
A shaft on two Cooper bearings normally runs one GR (fixed) and one EX (expansion). The GR bearing takes the axial load and defines the shaft’s axial position; the EX bearing lets the shaft grow and shrink with temperature without loading itself up. Fit two GR bearings on one shaft and thermal growth has nowhere to go: you build axial load into both bearings and shorten the life of both. This unit is the GR, fixed half of that pair.

Published specifications

Bore: 2-7/16 in (61.9 mm)Bearing type: split-to-the-shaft single-row cylindrical roller, fully split inner ring, outer ring and cageHousing: split cast (gray) iron pillow block as standard; ductile iron and cast steel are catalogued optionsSeries: 02, heavy dutyAxial arrangement: fixed / non-expansion (GR)Seating: split cartridge, spherically seated in the housing, so the unit self-aligns to shaft deflection and mounting misalignment of roughly ±0.5–1°Seal: split triple-labyrinth seal standard; felt, taconite and lip-seal variants are published options (a trailing AT in the part number denotes the standard seal and cover designation)Relubricatable
Dynamic and static load ratings, maximum speed, bolt centres, base-to-shaft-centre height and overall dimensions are not published in any online source we could verify. Cooper keeps the 02 Series dimension and rating tables in its printed catalogue rather than in web data. Rather than borrow a plausible-looking number from a 01 Series table or a competitor, these cells are left blank. If you need the mounting dimensions before committing, ask us and we will measure the actual unit.

Fitting notes

Split bearings are unforgiving about assembly cleanliness and about matching halves. The cage, inner ring and outer ring halves are matched sets and are marked — keep each half with its partner and do not mix components between two units. The inner ring halves clamp onto the shaft and their joint faces must be clean and burr-free, because any dirt trapped in the joint shows up as runout. Torque the housing cap bolts evenly and check that the cartridge is free to swivel in its spherical seat before final tightening.

Interchange guidance

Also written 02BCP207GR, 02 BCP 207 GR, 02-BCP-207GR, and commonly listed with the seal suffix as 02BCP207GRAT. Cooper Split Roller Bearing is now part of SKF, so current-production equivalents and full technical data are published under SKF’s split-to-the-shaft roller bearing range — searching “Cooper” alone will miss them. Cooper bearings have no drop-in solid equivalent: the whole point is the split, and swapping to a solid bearing means dismantling the drive.
