An INA RNA4928 single-row machined-ring needle roller bearing measuring 160 x 190 x 50 mm, in dimension series 49. The assembly is a machined outer ring with a caged needle roller complement running on the shaft surface itself.
Outer ring and needle assembly only, without inner ring. The version with an inner ring is the INA NA4928.

The needle roller complement gives a very high radial rating in a small radial section: 237 kN dynamic in a 15 mm wall thickness, which a ball bearing of the same outside diameter cannot approach. Line contact between needle and raceway is what buys that capacity, and it is also what caps the speed at 2900 rpm, well below a ball bearing in this envelope. Running the rollers on the shaft directly, rather than on an inner ring, saves radial space and puts the shaft surface itself into the load path, so the raceway on the shaft is ground and hardened to bearing raceway quality at 160 mm diameter.

The outer ring seats in a machined housing bore at 190 mm, and the shaft raceway is ground and hardened at 160 mm. Fitting is by even axial pressure on the outer ring face, and lubrication is by grease or oil supplied to the needle set. Axial location comes from the housing, since a needle roller bearing of this type carries radial load only.
IKO RNA4928, NTN RNA4928 and Koyo RNA4928 share the 160 x 190 x 50 mm envelope without an inner ring, and the current INA production designation is RNA4928-XL. The sealed RNA4928UU and the NA4928, which adds an inner ring, are different bearings.
