What these specs mean in practice

The needle roller complement gives a very high radial rating in a small radial section: 237 kN dynamic in a 15 mm wall thickness, which a ball bearing of the same outside diameter cannot approach. Line contact between needle and raceway is what buys that capacity, and it is also what caps the speed at 2900 rpm, well below a ball bearing in this envelope. Running the rollers on the shaft directly, rather than on an inner ring, saves radial space and puts the shaft surface itself into the load path, so the raceway on the shaft is ground and hardened to bearing raceway quality at 160 mm diameter.

Fitting notes

The outer ring seats in a machined housing bore at 190 mm, and the shaft raceway is ground and hardened at 160 mm. Fitting is by even axial pressure on the outer ring face, and lubrication is by grease or oil supplied to the needle set. Axial location comes from the housing, since a needle roller bearing of this type carries radial load only.
