A 60° contact angle puts almost the whole load path along the axis, so this family is built for axial stiffness rather than radial capacity, which is why it is used to locate ball screws and machine tool spindles. The two ball rows face opposite directions, so the bearing takes thrust both ways and sets axial position without a second bearing. The split inner ring is what allows the steep contact angle to be assembled at all.

The outer ring clamps into the housing against a square face and the split inner ring halves clamp on the screw or spindle shoulder, with the clamping force setting the preload built into the ground faces.

A 234428-UP is the same envelope at a finer precision grade, and a 7602-series or BSB-series ball screw support bearing shares the 60° contact angle but not the envelope or the double-direction construction; those are related sizes rather than interchanges.
