One single-row angular contact ball bearing, 60 mm bore, 110 mm outside diameter, 22 mm width, carrying a 15° contact angle and a machined phenolic laminate cage. The piece is duplex ground to a light preload band, and it is supplied as one half of that pair.
The 72 prefix and bore code 12 give ISO dimension series 72 at a 60 mm bore. In the RHP scheme C is a 15° contact angle, T a machined phenolic laminate cage, DU duplex universal grinding, L the light preload grade, and P0 normal tolerance class. The suffix -1/2PR is the half-pair marking: one bearing, not two. The alternate carton number B7212X2TDULEP1 confirms the angle independently, since X2 is 15° in the RHP B-series.
A 15° contact angle is the speed-biased option in this family. The shallow load line keeps ball centrifugal and gyroscopic effects low, so a 15° bearing reaches a higher limiting speed and runs cooler than a 25° bearing of the same envelope, giving up axial capacity and axial stiffness in exchange.
Duplex grinding is what makes a preload possible without shims: the ring faces are relieved by a measured amount, so two pieces clamped solid develop the light preload directly. Preload removes internal play, fixes the contact angle and makes axial position and runout repeatable, and the friction it adds becomes heat that shifts the preload as the spindle warms. The light grade adds the least of that heat.
The machined phenolic laminate cage is the high-speed cage material: light, so cage inertia and ball-pocket loads stay low, and good at retaining an oil film. Phenolic sets the temperature ceiling at roughly 120 °C, which governs ahead of the steel.
1 Pc. The -1/2PR suffix denotes a single bearing, half of a duplex-ground light-preload pair. The matching second half is a 7212CTDUL of the same duplex grind.
A single-row angular contact ball bearing carries thrust in one direction only. Axial load in the opposite direction is taken by a second bearing opposing this one, or by another element in the shaft stack.
The bearing mounts with its thrust face toward the load, following the face marking. Where a preloaded arrangement is wanted, this piece clamps solid against a second duplex-ground piece of the same designation, back-to-back for moment stiffness or face-to-face, and the ground relief sets the preload with no shimming.
B7212X2TDULEP1 is the RHP B-series designation for this envelope and angle, and 2MM212WI is the Fafnir-scheme number for the same 15° 72-series size. Same-envelope bearings differing in contact angle, preload grade or tolerance class — 7212E at 25°, the medium and heavy preload grades, and P4 or P5 class pieces — are related sizes rather than interchanges. A non-duplex bearing of this size will not develop preload when clamped against this one, since its faces are not relieved.
