Timken 134143-3 tapered roller bearing single cup — the outer race, 14.3750 in outside diameter, 1.6875 in width, 134000 imperial series. Class 3 super precision. Cup only. The matching cones are the Timken EE134100 and EE134102.
134143 is the Timken cup number. The trailing –3, also marked on the carton as *3, is the Timken precision designation Class 3, tighter than standard inch tolerance in bore, outside diameter, width and running accuracy. Paired with the EE134100 cone the complete tapered single assembly is designated EE134100/134143.
A cup is the tapered outer raceway. It seats in the housing bore and provides the reference angle against which the cone’s roller path runs, so the two halves of a tapered roller bearing are matched at the raceway angle. Class 3 tolerances hold tighter outside diameter and radial runout, which reduces the setting scatter of a large-diameter mounting and matters where a 14 in cup is clamped in a split or bolted housing.
One cup. Single cup, one raceway, taking one cone. Case-carburized steel with a hardened raceway and tough core.
The cup is a light interference or transition fit in the housing bore, pressed square and seated against the housing shoulder or a spacer face. Bearing setting to end play or preload is established after the cup is seated, by axial adjustment. Operating temperature range is –54 to 120 °C.
The 134143 cup number is common across tapered roller makers to the same ABMA inch designation, including SKF 134143, NTN 4T-134143 and the legacy Bower 134143. A 134143-2 or 134143-20000 is the same cup at a different precision class and is a related item rather than a like-for-like substitution for a Class 3 cup.
